Delissio Brasserie

Staking its claim in the funky Braddon precinct, this lunch and dinner hotspot follows the impressive lead of its flagship establishment, Curtin's Delissio Restaurant and Bar. Like its parent offering, Delissio Brasserie dabbles in delicious mod-Oz and international fare with a sizeable segment of Italian in the mix. What sets Delissio Brasserie apart is its offerings of tapas in a more low-key environment designed for quick and slick dining, covering culinary pleasures such as pumpkin, leek and smoked cheddar risotto balls, and pork belly braised in master stock, grilled and topped with apple and Szechuan chutney.

More leisurely diners can enjoy the outdoor area in all its glory, feasting on mains such as the prime Hereford scotch fillet with straw potatoes, hickory-smoked tomatoes and peppered wild mushrooms. A glimpse at the drinks menu is enough to woo wine connoisseurs who simply adore a sparkling, Riesling or Cab Sav, a natural addition to the Delissio dining experience.

on balance, an average experience
I went with a group from work for lunch. We pre-ordered at the request of the restaurant. Our meals came promptly and with friendly service. The food was OK, not as good as I expected having eaten there previously. I ordered the prawn and pork belly linguine. It was good size dish, but pretty average in taste with the four pieces of pork belly lacking any distinctive flavour and not adding much to the dish. I received the obligatory six prawns and lots of pasta. My friend ordered the marguerita pizza, which was soppy and absolutely swimming in cheese. Other pizza's looked okay, and the risotto went down well at the other end of the table. My colleague with some dietary needs didn't receive half her meal, this wasn't noticed or offered. We didn't have time to chase in our lunch hour. The coffee tasted great but was lukewarm. On balance, an average experience.
