After a three-year closure, this iconic North Sydney institution has reopened its doors to northern beaches locals. The slick and eclectic new interiors embrace surf and music culture, featuring warm timbers, band-poster wallpaper, terrazzo floors, black-and-white surfing photographs, tribal graphics and an impressive island bar coated in deep-green tiles.
In the stylish brasserie, guests can order from a range of succulent mains. Around lunchtime, suits and nearby workers grab quick pub-style meals with decidedly gourmet elements, such as the herb-crusted tuna wrap with rocket, cucumber, roasted peppers, Spanish onion, jalapeno aioli and hand-cut chips. After office hours, one of the delectable Mediterranean-inspired share plates teamed with a bottle of the Yalumba cabernet sauvignon wouldn't go astray, although the mains and desserts are certainly tempting if you're up for something more substantial. Tuck into a veal cutlet with parmesan crumbs, apple and endive salad with tomato relish, followed by a pear and apple crumble with rum and raisin ice-cream.
If you've managed to miss dinner and have a case of the late-night hunger pangs, then the gourmet pizzas are excellent and served till late; try the alluring pork belly option, with radicchio, caramelised onions, oregano and mozzarella.
