Pity about the mains...
We stopped in at Decks for lunch before a matinee at the theatre. Being quite early (12pm) it was quiet enough that the service was very prompt. We ordered both entree and mains as the waitress assured us it would not be a problem getting it all out in the limited time we had - she was right. We had a bucket of prawns and the salt and pepper calamari to start. The prawns were surprisingly big and juicy and the calamari was incredible. My partner orders this almost everywhere we go and claims it to be one of the best he has had. Unfortunately, the mains were a massive disappointment in comparison. My fish was dry and overcooked (though the portion was ridiculously big) and the salad boring and undressed. My partner's steak burger lacked sauce and/or mayo to soften the cruncy bread and the steak itself was small and dry. The quality of the entrees was enough to drag up the score foodwise, but the mains alone were very poor. Another thing which marred the experience was an issue with the parking voucher. The criteria stated that you needed to spend over $40 and you would receive a voucher for $5 parking (instead of the $15 charged). When we used an entertainment book discount voucher the staff member said we would need to pay $5 to receive the parking voucher since we were using a discount. If the discount had brought our bill to under $40 then fair enough, but our bill was still nearly $80 after the discount so I resented being charge another $5 to receive the parking voucher.

Food was great, Price was about average for this standard of restaurant, the service was excellent, the waiter was persistant but we let him know that we were not ready then when we were we waved to him and all was good,the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic, what a view.

just don't complain
My daughter and I had dinner together here and the food was great, except that my daughter's steak was rare instead of med rare. We brought it their attention and suddenly we were treated like lepers, staff pointing at us and obviously talking about us. Nothing was done to help nor any offer to help made. WE waited for the bill but finally had to go to the register where I paid and had the change slapped into my hand, not a word spoken, nor a thank you or please come again (which I will not).The atmosphere was appalling and rude. The price very expensive. Such a shame as the food was good. I sent an email to their office but have, of course, received no reply,not surprising really. This is a great example of very poor service.

Average Service
Visited Decks for lunch.
The waiter was very quick and rushed us into ordering our meals and drinks. We felt very rushed into ordering which ruined this lovely experience, as we waited a very long time for our meal.
The kids fish and chips was thoroughly enjoyed by daughter served in a boat.
I had the fish and chips which was very nice but expensive.
If we were given better service and not rushed then I think this would have been a better experience.

Wonderful restaurant!
WOW! i am just home from dinner at decks. I found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming and the food and drinks were delicious ! I had the eggplant tart for entree and Sauteed Chicken for main. Both were really good. Including drinks I would say this was $50 well spent! Being on the Brisbane river, the atmosphere was also lovely.

Poor food for very high prices
I was very disappointed with this restaurant. The food was poor for the price we paid; for an average of $30 per meal, the steak and seafood was over-cooked and with no vegetables. I paid $39 for a 400g Tasmanian steak which came on a bed of over-cooked potato and no vegetables at all. My wife had fish and chips which was very greasy. The views may be nice but the food is well under par.

Nice South Bank restaurant
I had the fish on the special menu. It was so delicious. The waiter told me that usually their fish is frozen, but this time it was fresh so it was worth having, and I agreed. We were there in early evening, and were the only people in the restaurant, so we had great service and our meals arrived quickly.
