Debacle is a casual joint specialising in snack-type dishes such as pizzas and tapas-style plates. This relaxed, something-for-everyone attitude is a great draw for indecisive types who aren't sure if they want to drink, nibble or dine fully. Those same indecisive types may trip up ordering a drink however, as Debacle stocks more than 120 types and sizes of beer and more than a few wines.

Debacle is right for its pizzas
We got two take away large pizzas at Debacle on 13 Feb 2010 for $27 each. They were almost the worst pizzas we have ever had. Both were cold when we opened them ( we live in O'Connor, which is not far away).
In both cases the pizza bases were very unappetising.
The 'pesco' had a few small pieces of fish - on some of the pre-cut slices there was no fish at all.
On the 'owner's special', again the topping was sparse and scattered randomly - some pieces had prosciutto and others hardly any and the roquette was half on the inside of the cardboard box, rather than on the pizza.
Debacle used to have a reputation for good pizzas- I will not purchase there again.

Debacle - it certainly wasn't!
Breakfast menu provides many options and generous serving sizes. Our breakfast was good - well prices and sufficient. Egg and bacon roll (with BBQ sauce - yummo!) hits the spot and French Toast is a sweet treat! Coffee was generally good. An event that certainly wasn't a disaster!

Great food at a great price
Just had a work farewell lunch at Debacle. Food was great, came very quickly, very tasty - only complaint was that a fish pizza came as a meat pizza. Very well priced.
I have to agree with the noise problem. The restaurant wasn't nearly full yet I had difficulty hearing people seated right next to me and felt myself really straining my voice when I spoke.

Great beer not so great pizza
I thought after trying to get some excercise we could grab a quick pizza here as we had been told how great they were (defeats the idea of excercise!)but we were disappointed the base of the pizza was light and really yummy but the toppings were a disgrace, and when you pay a premium price you expect better. Great place for a beer not to sure if I would go back tho due to the bad tasting pizzas.

Not just pizza and beer
This was one the best meals I've had out in a while. The Debacle chefs achieve a thing which is strange and rare these days - they can cook a steak exactly as ordered. My rare steak was tender, delicious and just bloody in the centre and the accompanying scallops were extraordinary. All my dining companions had equally superb meals including fish and the mussels. Debacle's only draw back is its terrible accoustics - it is deafeningly loud in there and we went home with hoarse voices from shouting just to hold a conversation at our small table.

Favourite haunt
Debacle is one of my favourites for a casual pub atmosphere with friends. yet the food is better than average pub food. The woodfired pizzas always impress and the mezze platters are fantastic. 2 for 1 pizza night on Mondays and Tuesdays make it great value and more enticing to spend an extra few bucks on one of their great beers.

Mezza platter
The mezze platter for two is divine.
Although much better when they had haloumi instead of 'deep fried brie' urghh.
Very very very loud. Good in summer when you can sit outside.

An old favourite
I like Debacle for long, lazy lunches that meld into late afternoon. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is good, you can eat up big or graze. It's not fancy, just simple and satisfying, so you're never disappointed.

This joint is supremely tres.
Debacle is damn superb. With over 120 beers on the menu what more do you need? It is super tres. It has some wicked beers on tap, and shows the footy on the big screen when its on. The pizzas are half price on Monday and Tuesdays too which is a right royal bargain. Go Debac's, you are the best.
