For 10 years David Taplin ran a successful casual noshery on Oxford Street for those wanting a quick bite, but with his latest venture he has created a more upmarket and intimate dining experience. White linen, candles, comfy booths and robust earthy tones create a sophisticated atmosphere. The seasonal menu might include such entrees as duck and chilli sausages or seared scallops in black bean butter sauce, while the list of mains might feature veal escalopes with sand crab. David's is best experienced at a leisurely pace, allowing one to enjoy the ambience and slowly gain a feeling of quiet contentment.

David is a champion and so is his restaurant
My husband and I were looking for a special place to celebrate the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008. We found this little restaurant called David's off Oxford (tucked behind the Bulimba cinemas).
We were greeted by David on our arrival and given the guided tour of the set menu - $60 for 3 courses (as it was NYE). What a choice to make as the options all sounded lovely. When the food arrived it far exceeded our expectations as the food was beautifully presented and the tastes and favours were exquisite. The service was very personal and professional.
David's off Oxford is a very small restaurant and this is one of its strengths.
