This tiny cafe in the heart of Hobart serves a mean Vittoria coffee and fabulous brekkies, from Spanish omelettes to traditional bacon and eggs. Patrons can grab a newspaper and a seat outside, or watch the chefs in the open kitchen while considering tantalising sandwiches and soups. Lunchtimes offer bruschetta, quiches and a range of tasty vego dishes, which are best rounded off with one of the house-made cakes or tartlets. The wine list is tiny but well chosen, and very reasonably priced. As far as cool and casual cafe dining goes, the Criterion Street Cafe meets the criteria.

Hot & Funky (and the food was good too)
Quick brekkie with the my bearded friend. Food was great, service was super. I Had the spanish omelette thanks to the review above - must try this if you go.
A bit noisy once the regular crowd came in and with the open kitchen but a nice vibe all the same.
Check out the distracting view opposite and upstairs.
Will be back,

Try it you will love it
The food is delicious, the coffee's the best in Hobart and the service is relaxed and friendly. The menu reflects the great locally sourced seasonal produce. You can expect hearty winter stews with delicious aioli, tasty bruschetta, yummy pies and a selection of indulgent home made treats. One cafe where within a few visits you're a regular right down to knowing your desired coffee preferences and seating arrangements.
