Previously the site of Double Cream - a scarily swanky, Euro-chic restaurant - Cream Patisserie is a much more relaxed venture by owner Tony Smith. While the quality has remained the same, the haute cuisine has disappeared, to the collective relief of Coorparoo locals. What they are left with is a quality suburban local with a comfortable and friendly atmosphere and a small menu of immensely tasty (yet approachable) dishes. A clever selection of gluten-free options also available.

Getting better??
After some lacklustre experiences at cream in the past, we were pleasantly suprised by our visit this time.
The service was extremely prompt and our order arrived within minutes of being placed!
The cakes were better than average, the Spanish hot chocolate was perfect! The only complaint was that the fruit flan was not like the traditional version with only a smear of custard filling and a very thick pastry casing.
We're glad we gave it another chance!

Has Potential but needs Improvement
Went on a Monday for breakfast. The place is cute and the window display of pastries looks great.
Considering it was a week day, the food took far too long, over 30 minutes.
I ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon. The salmon was great quality and genorously served, but far far too much given the egg portion.
My partner ordered the buttermilk pancakes, which were a disaster. The entire underside of both the pancakes were charred black and inedible. One bite was all he could get through & The Blueberry Compote tasted like cheap jam.
We informed the waiter, who offered to remake the meal, but as we had waited so long, he opted to have a croissont with jam and butter instead. This took a further 15 minutes to be served.
The croissant was beautiful and flaky and perfect.
Cream has great potential, but service and food standard needs to be polished before i would return.

Bland, tastless, cardboard cakes... creme - no longer my favorite
I am so dissapointed in Creme at Coorparoo. I have been going to this cafe for many years. What once was a haven of delicious deserts and treats, is now just any other cafe pumping out ordinary, bland dessert for extraordinary prices. I've noticed they've dropped all their great home made desserts, in favour of what appears to be 'mass-made' varieties. These new cakes are both tasteless and overpriced and can be found in many other eateries and canteens throughout Brisbane, like the Shafston Hotel, who sell them for about half the price. Not only that the food has gone to the dogs, the service is horrible. Many of their deserts have gone from fantastic to revolting. The bacci pyramid is one of the worst - a peice of cardboard has more flavour. I really hope creme at coorparoo returns to their former glory. It had great atmosphere, and even better food. It once was a place that I would rave about to anyone, now after my last few experiences, I've got nothing good to say.

Fantastic
My partner and I are regulars at Cream for a coffee and cake; just a quick review to recommend everyone try their Spanish hot chocolate... most beautiful hot choccie I have ever had! Ever! Great service, lovely atmosphere.

yet to disappoint
I am surprised by the negative views. I have been a regular at Cream for a couple of years and I think the change of management and recent refurbishment has seen them build on the recent improvements in both service and food. Hands down the best treats/pastries in Brisbane too. I think you should try it again!

Disappointed
After many years of going to Cream I was very disappointed with a recent experience. The cafe appears to have changed hands and the staff seemed inexperienced. The coffee was bad. I waited a very long time for food. The waiter called me "dear" (note to restaurant staff - never call women "dear" or "darling", we don't like it!). One of the waitresses was singing at the top of her voice, and the waiting staff all gossiped away loudly between themselves. A big drop in standards for what was formerly a lovely cafe.

Need to do better
I ordered a short black and a big breakfast on a fairly quiet Saturday morning. My experience with this place went sour fairly quickly. The coffee was bitter and had been burnt. The breakfast was ok, but nothing I couldn't get for $5 cheaper at any number of cafes.
