Opening onto Queens Walk and looking out over the Derwent River, the Cornelian Bay Boathouse Restaurant, or as it is more commonly known, "The Boathouse", offers truly superb people-watching potential, from red-faced runners to strolling lovers along the waterfront. In summer, the glass walls open up onto this bustling scene, but in winter the restaurant is insulated against the cold and one can watch in comfort as other poor souls freeze in the cool river breezes.
What better way to justify an indulgent afternoon spent quaffing wine and enjoying chef Dave Lamb's modern Australian cuisine? Like most mod-Oz food, Lamb borrows from other styles, using some Asian flavours and traditional French methods. However, the true highlight is the fresh local seafood that continues to surprise by changing seasonally, although Atlantic salmon and Bruny Island oysters are regular specials.

Decission to go to Boathouse today!Entered into resturant was attended to straight away, were taken to table one back from window handed menu and asked for drinks. Not long after were asked if we would like to be seated at a table right next to window due to a cancellation we agreeed. Order was taken started with a Soughdough roll with sea salt and butter very nice.I ordered the Chicken with pinkeye potatoes she ordered Beef cheeks. The chicken was beautiful and I totaly emjoyed the meal cooked well. The beef was tender, tasty and would be had again by her. The view over the derwent to the bridge was a lovely aspect to have, watching the ducks and other bird life on the water edge. Staff were very attentive food great will return at a later date
