The name may say 'cafe' and the vibe may be of the folksy, rustic, country sort, but the food here is more inner-city Melbourne than quaint country cafe, with some expertly executed dishes like duck pie, roasted pumpkin and sweet potato lasagne, and prawn and scallop pie. The fireplace is the perfect spot to settle in and warm up after a walk through the Dandenong Ranges, and a coffee and one of the homemade pastries are the perfect accompaniment. There's also a range of boutique gourmet products for sale like the handmade Cacao chocolates, local jams, pickles and olive oils.
