Any Spanish restaurant that has a traditional guitar displayed in the front window (until recently propped next to a flamenco-dancing doll) and festival posters adorning the walls promises a good time. The inside walls of Colmao Flamenco are of pale Mediterranean slatted plaster design, paired with wood panelling and a vaulted ceiling.
Dinner, while loud and boisterous, is still relaxing. Expect saucy sangria and jubilant music. But most of all, expect the jewel of Spanish cuisine - paella. You can get chicken and seafood, just seafood or vegetarian. The ingredients are fresh and the rice mix is spot on. They've also stuck with wines from the different Spanish-influenced regions. Choose white or red wine from Spain, Chile or Argentina, select a cold beer or cider, or save yourself for a digestive port or brandy.

Not impressed
Our usual spanish restaurant was booked so we thought we would try this one which was further up the road. Not very impressed. Food was very average, price was not! Sangria not worth a mention and the service well... rude. The only thing Colmao had going for it was that it was nice and small and cosy...

very average
Very ordinary experience for us. There was some confusion when we arrived, when we sat down there isn't much room for your feet. Sangria was OK but food was oily and heavy, rice was not cooked enough in the paela. Maybe not enough people but no one seems to know what is going on. I think there are better places to go.

spanish home made food
The service was great, it was very attentive .The food was very tasty as expected, very fresh and cooked on the spot. The restaurant looks very Spanish. I loved the zarzuela dish as my friends enjoyed the quails. At last we did not have room for desert but we could not resist the churro mix and that was a good choice!!!

Experience
Booked table for four.Restaurant has us booked for two. This caused friction as some people were looking for a table. The owner(manager?) asked us, while we were eating, and took a table from the long section we were seating for others. The owner came again and confirmed my name(Again while we were eating) to check booking details and was attempting to sort it out with waiter who gave us the table in the first place.Although set menu stated a free glass of wine to each diner it did not happen. Some of the food served was cold.We were given one little busket of bread amongst four people who paid a set price /head. No one attempted to help in choosing a dish as it was the first time in a Spanish restaurant. Finally no one approached us to ask how our meal was going,if we needed anything else.To my observation, the feeling of been pushed quickly out to replace us with new customers on the table was more realistic.

Delightful Experience
The food is traditional spanish fare and was absolutely delicious!!, the seafood paella was perfect and very resaonably priced, the desert we had was just lovely and the coffees were divine. The waiters were friendly, bubbly and helpful, the atmosphere was bustling and happy, if not a little crowded. Overall a fantastic dining experience, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we will happily come back again and again. We would most definitely recommend this restaurant to others for a good night out with a satisfying delicious meal.

Viva Espagna
Attended a Tuesday evening for my daughter's 18th. Good ambience and quick service for drinks on arrival (was very thirsty). Ordered a couple of tapas and paella for three. Very tasty and almost some left over. Great overall service, good cold Estrellas, cocktails and wine. Great value and an overall pleasing dining experience.

OK, old-fashioned Spanish food
It was OK, average old-fashioned Spanish food. Seemed a bit understaffed or just confused.

Authentic Spanish cuisine.
Great spot for authentic tapas, paella and sangria, with that real rustic feel The paella was delicious and great value for money for the size you get. The closest to real Spanish food you can get. The atmosphere was buzzing on a Sat night. As it was a full house, service of mains was slow however the waitresses were extremely attentive.

The sangria here is excellent, served in a rustic clay mug. Our cold entree of marinated octopus served on salad greens was delicious and full of flavor. The paella is more than enough for two people, with nice chunks of chicken and seafood. The rice could have been cooked a bit longer, but it was still delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience.
