The name Coconut Grove evokes images of swaying palm trees, salty breezes and fruity cocktails - and, with its location at Sunshine Beach, that image is not too far off the mark. The menu continues that tropical fantasy, beginning with a list of pupu (Hawaiian appetisers) and continuing into a list of what the chef refers to as "coastal cuisine". Diners who're more in the mood for comfort food than fresh resort gastronomy can turn to such hearty options as braised beef and Guinness pot pie; or roasted free-range chicken with Toulouse sausage cassoulet.

Enjoyable
A nice place for dinner. Food was wonderful. Probably the only restaurant worth visiting in Sunshine

Stellar food - not Pupu
Hawaiian food in Australia? A bit of a novelty, unless you're an American on holiday in the gorgeous Sunshine Coast. The small little entree plates, or Pupu, sound like a twist on all the tapas and mezze that is popular in restaurants in Australia at the moment. It's perhaps something a little different... But Pupu plates?
The food at this little oasis in a little slice of paradise called Sunshine Beach is superb. I had an entree of grilled scallops with a white bean puree with grilled pancetta and rocket which was supurb. The pork "porterhouse" for a main was succulent and my wife ordered the fish of the day, snapper wrapped in pandan and banana leaves which was melt in the mouth.
The food coming out of the kitchen at Coconut Grove is superb. Nice wine list with something for everyone. The service can be awkward at times, I even had the waiter try and talk me out of my selections, but the kitchen make up for any shortcomings.
I would recommend Coconut Grove, but do dress up a little... It's not as casual as some of the little restaurants nearby.
