Cocolat

Cocolat has been producing mouth-watering cakes and choccies from their Adelaide Hills base since 1992, so it is no surprise that their new licensed dessert cafe had the locals pressing their noses against the glass waiting for it to open. Dressed in sumptuous shades of chocolate and cream, this is a fittingly opulent space for sampling the range of cakes and truffles displayed in the long cabinet. There are also cheese platters available for those who have exhausted their sweet tooth. Recognising that we can never get quite enough indulgence, Cocolat also offers a large wine list (packed with stickies, of course) and such appropriately sweet cocktails as the chocolate martini. Open until the wee hours, customers are welcome to come and sample the various liquid options (using the venue as a wine bar-style alternative to the local pub), but if you can get through the night without trying a little something from the cabinet, you are stronger than most.

Beautiful chocolate if you like to wait
I've now been twice and both times I was faced with the same dilemma of not being able to find a table and feeling as though you had to eat up fast and get out. The chocolate is excellent but very expensive but it's the price I'd pay again for great chocolate.

Great food, but you wait for it
My wife and I were out on a Saturday night and stumbled across this cafe. We saw that it was extremely busy and thought a busy place is a good place. Upon entering we struggled to find a table/chair for us and the place was very congested. My wife wanted a chocolate lamington and was not dissapointed with the treat when she finally got it. The service was lacking in enthusiasm and pace. I ordered the gelati and was very satisfied with it. My friends all joined me with gelati as well and again were happy with it. There are a LOT of great choices, and if you are into chocolate then this is the place to come. However bring your wallet with you, the prices are a little steep, but it keeps the wife happy. I must say I have never before this trip paid more than $2.80 for a lamington. We will however come back to it again, maybe when it is a little less busy?

oink
Late late night on Rundle Street, post-film, need chocolate. Order chocolate croissant. Long wait, but what arrived was worth waiting for. We are totally blown away by this decadent toasted croissant accompanied by a small deep pot of dark liquid chocolate and large plop of whipped cream for dipping/spreading. WE SHALL RETURN.
