Disappointing
"Cider marinated pork fillet" sounded tender and tasty. It was neither. I left two thirds after several hacks with the steak knife and grinding of the teeth. A quality restaurant should not serve tough and tasteless meat.

An Enjoyable Experience
I recently had a chance to dine alone at Citrus. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The service was spot on and they were only too happy to answer all my questions about the food, wine choices and past history of the restaurant.
I started with the Tapas plate. This was a rather unusual combination which included: squid, gorgeous pate, the best olives I have ever tasted and 'popcorn' (wasn't sure about the popcorn). The sauces were delicious..... a fabulous dish and a great value entree for one. My main course was a duck risotto with beetroot. It had a wonderfully tangy aroma which, I thought, wasn't quite reflected in the taste. However, it was still a classy dish.
Accompanied by a rich glass of red wine, this was a fantastic meal. I will definitely return to Citrus with friendsto sample some of their other original dishes.

Breakfast joint to return to
Previous dinner experience was a shocker, however reading so many good brekkie reviews here we gave it a go. Citrus did not dissapoint! We had not booked but they fitted us in (9.30am,there were many empty tables but obviously we were up that bit earlier than most). The Bircher muesli was superb, heaps of berries and some apple. Coffees were well above average, although a chipped cup showed less than superior quality control. Music was not too loud (probably due to high ceiling speaker?). One staff member was almost running (that's a never ever btw) and the service was very cool (ie, showed no particular warmth to us as customers) but professional.

let down
Doubt if we would return.Service, presentation and food did not come up to expectations. The restaurant itself has a nice feel about it both inside and outside and is situated in a good position on a corner, in a pleasant part of the city.Prices are above average for what is barely average food and service.Even if you have good premises you need attentive and enthusaistic staff to create a good atmosphere and we felt the staff were lacking in this regard.

nice breakfast
after reading some of the reviews on this site i was a bit sceptical to go here with some girlfriends for a birthday breakfast but was actually really pleased with the overall quality of the food and service. the staff were very friendly and checked up on us frequently but not too much that they were overbearing, and the meals arrived quite promptly even though there was atleast 10 of us. coffee was delicious, and we didnt feel pressured by staff to leave immediately after we'd finished eating which was nice. the only dissapointment was that the waitress gave a completely wrong description of one of the meals - which myself and two others ordered - which i wouldnt have had if i had known how the meal was actually served. besides that minor letdown, everything was great and ill be going back to try the lunch and dinner menu.

Shocking Coffee !!
This would have to be the worst place for a coffee in Adelaide. Four of us had intentions of eating but because it took nearly 20 minutes for a coffee we went to elsewhere for Yum Cha instead. The coffee was luke warm and the waitress practically threw one of the capuccinos at us that filled the saucer! If the coffee is anything to go by and the slow service, i wouldn't want to eat there !
Adelaide has great places for coffee and this isn't one of them !!

Satisfied
This was my first visit to citrus. I thought the food was beautiful. I was really satisfied with my meal. I had the eggs benedict. Everything was cooked perfectly, was really delicate. Service was great, really looked after. Definitely going back.

Citrus Restaurant
After reading the reviews on this site, my expectations of Citrus were not high. However the food was lovely, an Eggplant dish with some delectable goat curd and a lovely salad, and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her risotto. The service was efficient and professional, and our water and wine glasses were not empty until we left. Despite what one of these reviews suggested, the bread was complimentary, served with delicious dipping oil, and our meals were below the $25 mark. The waiting staff appeared very knowledgeable about the menu and specials, although admittedly not to the same extent about their wine list. It was a memorable and lovely lunch for us, and we will definitely be returning.

Citrus
I was thoroughly disappointed in Citrus. We went there for dinner with family & we were all left hungry & disappointed. We didn't want to complain as it was a special occasion & didn't want to make our parent feel bad for choosing this restaurant. I have had breakfast here & was quite happy with those meals but dinner was a different story. It was expensive, the meals were very small & not quality for the price. The chef killed the steak, the fish of the day was so small it was a joke & the Asian vegies used were bitter. Descriptions on the menu were so overhyped you had to ask what they were. The so called eggplant cannolloni was just full of boring tasting mashed potato & a smidgen of eggplant. Out of 10 people only 2 thought their meals were ok, although all thought the prices were too high - $29-$35 for small main courses. They did not have complimentary bread - if you wanted bread it was $3 each. Maybe they should try to be less pretencious & focus on good quality, good value & good tasting food.

What's all the fuss about
Confused as to the hype about this place. I found it to be a bit hum drum in all areas.

Citrus is apparently well regarded for its breakfast, but I found it dissapointing. Service was good, but very slow. Our orders took well over half an hour, and considering there were very few people in the restaurant, it felt like a very long time. However the waiter was excellent. The food was very disappointing. The breakfast menu felt pretty limited, although they were happy to change up some of the orders. The sausage was chorizo, something that wasn't specified on the menu, and the bacon felt underdone. All in all no one was particularly impressed by the meals, especially when you consider it's not all that cheap for breakfast dining.

Disappointing experience - there are better places at these prices
Having eaten twice at Citrus on previous visits to Adelaide and found everything was fantastic was looking forward to another great meal for our wedding anniversary, with son and daughter and their partners. What a letdown! The service was slow and forgetful. We did not want entrees and had to wait over an hour for the main course (excuse a big group out the back). We both ordered the Aged MSA beef fillet (300gms) with creamed potatoes, wilted spinach, caramelised shallots and jus. I asked for my steak to be very rare, my wife medium rare. Both served medium rare and just warm. The creamed potatoes were not hot and tasted more like they had been in the fridge and partly dried out, definately not creamed. The jus was just not visible. We did not send the food back because we did not want to wait another hour to be fed. The service?? apart from wait for main course, my daughter ordered a sparkling mineral water, waitress poured one for each person at the table, why?? Order for still water was forgotten and waitress had to be reminded. In the hour wait for main course were not approached to see if anyone wanted another glass of wine or other drink. The atmosphere - our table was right next to the fridge that was used to store the white wines and each time the waitress came to get a new bottle my son had to scrunch up so that they could open the door. There were several free tables in restaurant that would have been more comfortable.

Disappointed
I've been to Citrus before for brunch so went for dinner. Very disappointed by the meal. The meat was cubes of fat with very little meat and when I mentioned this was told it was pork belly which is very unusual for a carbonara. I said if I'd known this I wouldn't have had it. Basically paid over $20 for some spahetti with carbonara sauce. The waitress was very patronising and intimated that I should have known as it's a 'real' carbonara. Apart from that service by the other waiting staff was great. Won't be going back.

I'd heard that Citrus Restaurant was excellent but I didn't believe it until I went on Saturday night. The service was warm and friendly from the word go, and it just got better from there. The seared scallops as entree was a taste sensation, and the Blue Swimmer Crab Linguini for main course was amazing. But I was finally blown away by the dessert, the Rasperry Icecream Cone with homemade Rocky Road, with a chocolate sauce that was absolutely sensational.
All in all, a must-try restaurant, and a pleasant dining experience.

Fantastic display of food using original flavours with a diverse menu on offer.
Beautiful setting down to the wine glasses being used.
