The beauty of Melbourne's flourishing dining scene is that it's constantly in a state of flux, separating the wheat from the chaff. What was the somewhat unsuccessful Circuz tapas joint is now the hugely popular Circuz Japanese Noodle Bar & Grill.
The name may have only changed slightly, but the overall product is vastly different, with polished service now matched with timeless Japanese cuisine. The menu reads like a refresher course in classic Japanese cooking, with old favourites like sushi, sashimi, gyoza, tataki and tempura all in plentiful supply. The food offerings are then rounded out with a good selection of dons, udons, ramens and yakitori grills. Throw in the casual bar downstairs with its generous wine list, and you've got all the makings of a great night of fine wine and luxe food.
