The Prince hotel is a trendy, moody fine-diner where, after the departure of heavyweight exec chefs Andrew McConnell and Matt Wilkinson, new kid on the block Jake Nicolson is still creating fare that travels the globe effortlessly, embodying his own distinct style but retaining the Mediterranean flourishes.
Mod-Med is mixed with Asian and even Moorish flavours, delivering dishes such as the suckling pig and sweetbreads with tamarind-glazed shallot, celeriac and apple. The Euro-inspired fare ups the ante with a goat's cheese souffle paired with elderberry-glazed beets and complementary flavours of walnut and rocket.
Patrons should bring their appetites and remember to dress to impress at this St Kilda hotspot.

Circa - a big disappointment!!
From the outset this was a huge diappointment. The new renovations have destroyed the ambience Circa once enjoyed so if you're wanting an intimate dinner for two in an amazing venue then this is definately not the place for you. I felt I was in a local pub bistro, in fact my local has a better interior design. Having said that the wine list was good but overpriced, the meal was acceptable but if it's value for money you're wanting then Circa may not be the place for you. The best thing we did was leave and go to another restaurant for coffee and desert.

Outstanding
My husband and I have been hearing alot about Circa and the new reno s lately; we hadn t been in years so we thought we would find out what all the fuss is about.
After dinning at Circa last Saturday night, I now realise what all the fuss is about. The food is outstanding and they have fantastic wines by the glass, the service was professional and young, and the d?cor was just simply stunning. The main dinning room is now in the old courtyard, they have re designed this space so well, it was buzzing with great people and has such a cool vibe about it.
It s a must .

Perfect Saturday night in Melbourne
Circa is still one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne. They consistently offer delicious and interesting dishes and the dining room is divine. Our service on Saturday night was really attentive - the wine service in particular was fantastic. I had the Szechuan spiced yellowfin tuna, which was excellent.

A little over priced for the standard of food and service
The food overall was good to great, partner had an octopus entree which she thoroughly enjoyed, my duck - Foie Gras terrine was also very good. The waitress struggled with the menu and was not familiar with the wine list and we had to ask to have our glasses topped up. They served the mains around the wrong way, my partner really enjoyed her mushroom tart and my John Dory was good but not great. We were overall not impressed with Circa and were a little disappointed after hearing great reviews. Maybe they were having an off night. Also we were not very impressed paying over $250 for dinner and feeling the floor shake and music from the nightclub downstairs, it was a bit of an ambience killer.

What's the deal?
Friday lunch and only one or two other tables apart from ours, a table of 10. Steaks were over cooked, fish pie had three tiny morsels of fish swimming in an ocean of creamy sauce and with all courses the portions were tiny. The maitre'd was apologetic and brought complimentary pommes frites but that didn't quite make up for the overall disappointment felt by our party. Even if we struck an off day with the food this place is stark and lacking in atmosphere, during the day at least.
