Cipriani

Named for Arrigo Cipriani, creator of the Bellini cocktail, Cipriani has joined the ranks of Italian restaurants on Kennedy Street - a strip that is fast becoming Canberra's Little Italy. Formerly a family-friendly casual Italian eatery, this ambitious eatery has nabbed a two-Michelin-starred chef - whose name they're keeping frustratingly close to their chests until they're ready to relaunch with a bang. In the meantime, diners can simply be assured that the pizzas and kids' menus have given way to Italian wines and silver service.

Fools gold
I wanted this to be good. The restaurant looks nice, the service was good and the food was presented very well. Unfortunately my scampi was overly dry (almost mush in one piece), the waiter couldn't care less when I mentioned it and the risotto had too much cream in it. Some pesto had been dribbled around the plate decoratively and while it was nice it was far too strong and the wrong flavour to go with scampi. This could be a really good restaurant but someone needs to be concentrating on making the meals taste as good as they look. At $30 a meal it was very disappointing.

This is a fantastic restaurant. The lunch menu is fabulously priced and great value for money. The service was great and we really enjoyed the occasion.

Great
Excellent choice of meals and good quality food. Family-friendly restaurant with a kids' menu which is not just a second thought. Well worth the visit.
