The fusion of a Danish aesthetic with clean Japanese food off the beaten track in Collingwood has created Cibi. This quirky cafe-cum-gallery-cum-apparel merchant offers the standard morning meal staples of sourdough toast with jam and butter and some seriously good coffee. Cibi is open for lunch as well, which is great as many of the dishes on offer translate well for those with the midday munchies.
Things head for Mount Fuji, with offerings such as miso soup filled with luscious chunks of peppery spring onion and wholesome tofu. And a Japanese breakfast plate with grilled salmon, brown rice and traditional Japanese spinach salad is sure to provide a clean start to the day, particularly with a nutty cup of genmaicha green tea.

terribly cool
It's always very cool to 'find' a special little place that is not on a main stretch. This place feels like you've discovered it, so we are feeling very cool before we even eat. But then the breakfast delivers more than just 'cool'. It truly is well thought out food, in keeping with a traditional Japanese breakfast you leave feeling like you have eaten everything you need for the day but not actually feeling too full- so healthy! I had a traditional breaky and we shared a soba salad amongst us- just lovely. As I sipped my second coffee which was perfect, I wandered around the little exhibition space they have. Now I want to tell everyone about this place-but wait- i might just keep it my little secret.
