In just a few years, this authentic Italian restaurant has become a local institution. It operates on a first come, first served basis, which means there's usually a queue for a table. But it's BYO, so why not do as the locals do and enjoy a pre-dinner tipple of your own vino while you wait. The experience once inside is big and bold, defying the actual size of the place. The menu is extensive, the servings are enormous and the energy is unrelenting. A solid range of pasta and pizza is complemented by Italian homestyle dishes like veal and chicken parmigiana, and regular specials. The fettuccine Ciao Italia is a very popular dish, as is the cozze pescatora, where fresh local mussels are drowned in a special house sauce. If you have an impatient stomach, there's also a takeaway option.

Excellent italian food
prepare for a long wait if you were to go during meal times. we waited for close to an hour for a table of 5. but the wait was definitely worth it. the chilli mussels were cooked to perfection. and the tiramisu is a must! the wait staff always greet you with a smile. definitely going back very frequently.

Great expwerience
During a quick trip to Perth we were pointed towards Ciao Italia. Glad we took the advice. Had to wait for a table early on a Wednesday night but it was worth it. The food is terrific and good value but the ambience and friendly service was the highlight. We will be back on our next trip west. Really fun place to share with friends.

Authentic Italian cuisine
Never a restaurant to disappoint, Ciao Italia is a regular on my list. The dishes are large in size and always well prepared and tasting great. The only downsides are waiting outside for a seat for what can be a long period of time, and the cramped seating. At the end of the day it's great value for money and consistently well up to standard. Thumbs up
