Chutney Mary

This quirkily named eatery is a Toowoomba establishment, frequented by the locals for a variety of tandoori dishes and the ever-popular butter chicken. The meals here are known for being quite spicy, but there's a wide selection of traditional aerated teas on offer to turn down the heat.

Chutney Mary's Butter Chicken
The Butter Chicken was amazing, it was nice and creamy but had a little bit of spice. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very calming, highly recommended!

Thank you Chutneymary.
Iam not an Indian cuisine fan ,might be because i have never tried Indian food before but was recently introduced to Chutneymarys by my work mates who said its the best Indian in Toowoomba, There were 12 of us ,we had our booking done and arrived at the restaurant around sevenish upon which we were greeted and seated .we ordered our mains and drinks ,my friend seated next to me ordered entree and was raving on how delicious the samosa was however, i skipped entrees because i didn't want to be too full to enjoy the mains. i opted for milder curry the waitress suggested Malai Kofta [Vegetarian] and Saag Chicken. Malai Kofta the curry in itself had a creamy cashewy gravy with subtle flavor of spices and herbs had mashed potato dumpling stuffed with dry fruits and cottage cheese in it which was Delicious! .Sag chicken was excellent iam glad i ordered that one. The garlic naan was awesome cooked to perfection with garlic and smokiness and the wine was divine complemented the food well .My mates were happy with the food they ordered, Good food , service and good ambiance ,The money is worth the food and service one will receive. definitely going back to Chutneymarys more often .

Such a shame
...that you couldn't keep a good name. Sincerely disappointed with last night s overall experience at, what once was, our favourite eat-out place. After raving about Chutney Mary s to friends/family, we are now suggesting alternative restaurants. We (my husband and I and our two young sons), so eagerly, took my sister and her new boyfriend out to Chutney Mary's only to sit and wait an hour after our order, for our entree to be delivered. At this stage you might say that the kids were a little impatient and the adults were starting to become very hungry and slightly hostile. After looking around at the three or so tables wondering why our meals were taking so long, we assessed that those patrons who were collecting take-away meals were being given first priority, or so it seemed. My sister and her boyfriend ordered the budget banquet and while the selection of sauces came out after 15 min of ordering (a positive!), the first part of their meal (that was supposed to be complemented with the sauces) didn't actually arrive until an hour and 10 minutes later; seeing both couples eat their first dishes approx 20 minutes or so apart.

On receiving our entree, 'Meat-lover's platter for two', it was lucky that we were starving at this time because what seemed to be presented on an attractive sizzling plate, was anything but appetizing after the first morsel. .
I'm really not sure why the waitress asked us how it was, because she didn t really care to know that we were unhappy with the meal. This was stated twice and over-looked twice. From there, we waited again for a little short of half an hour before our 'warm' (but typically tasty) butter chicken arrived. On paying, we were greeted (or perhaps, not-so greeted) with a waitress who was being prompted by the manager/supervisor. The reception we got from the both of them was anything but warm.
I am unsure as to why this Saturday evening experience was such a big contrast to our previous weekly dine-in experiences but it's suffice to say that this one left a bad taste in our mouths and we will not be returning.
