Fine modern Italian food and wine are the order of the day at Church Street Enoteca. Chef Adam Mead is passionate about serving authentic Italian food - and in this town they'd know if it wasn't up to scratch. Even the basic tomato sugo used at Enoteca is produced in-house every season, to stock the pantry for the year ahead. Care is given to every little detail, and diners are the ultimate winners.
2009 Gourmet Traveller WINE Wine List Guide - "This is a substantial list with a strong showing of Italian varietals, with an international sampling (at least) of each major variety."

Complete disrespect
We were treated with complete disrespect by the staff. We were made to feel uncomfortable and awkward. The food was very tasty but tiny. You'd need to order three mains just to come close to feeling full. The drinks list is very limited. The high ceilings make it way too loud and cold.

Our favourite restaurant
Great food (esp the steaks) and desserts. Service is top class. Our frequent dinner hangout and would always highly recommend to friends. Downside - standard is not always consistent.

Not bad
Our first impression was that it was rather noisy as we were seated near the bar. Otherwise the decor is nice and the service was good, although the bill took a while to come. Our entree and mains came out super fast, dessert took longer. My husband loved the duck main, but we found that the food was on the salty, oily side. I wouldn't recommend the white chocolate pudding, very sweet with little flavour other than sugar. Also, use the raspberry sauce sparingly on the souffle, it overpowers it.

Great Richmond local
Living in Richmond I ve always put Enoteca on my to do list and now I m wondering why I waited so long! I dined with my partner a few weeks ago on what I thought would be a quiet Tuesday night only to find the restaurant surprisingly busy. This didn t impact on the fantastic service though. We were seated at a table along a very comfortable couch and had a glass of champagne each while we perused the menu. Although not a huge menu we had a hard time trying to decide what to eat, everything sounded so mouth watering! Finally we decided to share the octopus salad with potatoes and the crumbed pork for entree. Both were lovely but the pork was the stand out, beautifully soft on the inside with a crisp crumbed outer shell.
Usually I am a little sceptical of pasta dishes but I had been told by a friend that the three cheese tortellini was not to be missed so we shared a plate as a second entree. It was honestly one of the best things I have ever eaten! The mix of the cheeses with the balsamic and butter sauce worked perfectly and left me wanting more.
For main course I had the wagyu steak with a tomato relish, cooked perfectly medium rare as requested and my partner had the duck breast with fois gras. Both were absolutely delicious and I couldn t resist a side of onion rings to go with the steak! The sommelier matched a beautiful Heathcote shiraz for our meal which was great because I found the wine list a little daunting.
The white chocolate pudding we shared for dessert had a lovely liquid centre, though perhaps the chocolate ice cream it was served with made the dish a little too rich (or maybe we d eaten too much already) but it was a lovely end to a lovely meal.
The service was great all night. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive without being stuffy or arrogant and made sure we had plenty of water and bread all night. Will definitely be coming back to this local, I don t know how long I can go without that tortellini!

church street enoteca
My wife and I visited Church Street Enoteca a few weeks ago for our anniversary lunch. Upon arrival, we informed the hostess of this and she sat as at a lovely table, overlooking the street. We shared a platter of different meats, antipasto and bread(of which we were never short of) to start with and then I had the trotter and my wife the duck. The meals were very lovely and delightfully presented. For dessert we shared a hazelnut chocolate pudding, which was soft in the middle. The sommelier was very helpful with choosing a sticky to compliment the dessert. We would highly recommend Enoteca, as a lovely place to dine with a relaxed atmosphere.

Not long until they lose their hat .....
What a disappointment. I had such high hopes when I walked in but it was all downhill from there. We were served by 4 different wait staff during the evening, including a gentleman who was earlier eating at a nearby table with what looked liked his family. I assume he wasn't a customer! The staff are clearly there to fill in a couple of hours between uni courses and lack knowledge about the menu and wine list. The signature tortellini was so small I had to stop for a burger on the way home. Fish of the day was overcooked and slight smell indicated was probably "fish of yesterday". Experience was overpriced and underdelivered.

Great food, great wine, great venue
My wife and I went last night for an early dinner... We were a bit early for dinner service so we sat at the bar enjoying a drink until they were ready. The wines we had were both excellent (a chardy and pinot from the by-the-glass list), and our mains (duck breast, 3 cheese ravioli) were refined, elegant, and very tasty. The cassata for dessert was also good. Only criticism would be the slightly smallish serving sizes (got a main size on the pasta, entree must be tiny!) - but the quality and sophistication were right up there. Recommended and will return.

Attractive European bistro
The old Duttons car sales room is the venue and it has been nicely furnished with leather couches near the bar and a long banquette down one side of the room. Antique European posters adorn the walls and there is a display of Atomic coffee machines in a glass case.
Elegantly furnished, with crisp linen and good tableware, the restaurant is an impressive space overlooking Church Street in the vicinity of the old Bryant & May buildings.
The set menu was excellent value, at $21 for 2 courses or $28 for 3. However for a restaurant that on their website purports to catering for coeliacs, it offered no gluten-free main courses, so we were forced to turn to a la carte, and it took 20 minutes before our waiter could inform us which dishes could be eaten without making my friend the coeliac violently ill.
The produce was good quality, the dishes were delicious, well presented and executed, but the front of house fell down with their lack of menu knowledge and the expectation that we would order a bottle of wine before even seeing the menu was not particularly professional. Our coffee order came out twice, so there is obviously a bit of miscommunication among the staff.

The $21 lunch menu is the best-value lunch deal anywhere in Australia. On our visit we ate a mixed salami plate and Berkshire pork cutlets. The $21 also included coffee and biscotti which is a welcome change from the usual cheap crappy wine offered in other restaurants.
