Restaurant Information
Chouquette
Chouquette, like the delicate little pastry from which it takes its name, is a tiny, sweet piece of patisserie heaven. Across from the interminably messy Village Twin, the location may be less romantic than the Champs Elysees but their tarte au citron is just as good and it won't require five grand and a DVT to get it. Inside, the usual bread suspects form their familiar line-up along the back wall. On another wall, locals out on the pretext of buying a baguette sit on funky, low-set stools, exchanging guilty glances as they wash down petite pear tarts with Merlo espressos. Immaculately arranged mini-gateaux, croissants and pates sucrees make this a veritable minefield for the indecisive. Though beware: the mirror at the front serves as a timely reminder that Australian women do indeed get fat. Millefeuille technically translates as 'a thousand leaves' and you might try scamming a second one if you suspect there's less, but chances are you won't care to count; this pale, delicately sweet creme patisserie, flecked with vanilla and barely contained in flaky layers of pastry, is the real French deal. If you're lactose-challenged, wheat-averse or flustered by beautiful, French-speaking blondes, Chouquette may not be your bag, but if you've got a penchant for great patisserie and a metabolic rate that can match it, this place is hard to beat.

Delectable
From the first time I wandered in to this morning, this place is truly enchanting, this is a smart establishment.
I voluntarily submit to their service - I'm the one that can't stop smiling. Having never been to France, I feel this surely cannot be an accurate cross section of French eating habits - how can they possibly stay petit on such a diet? I confess I'm totally enthralled, I literally try not to smile, but the whole time I'm there, from the moment I hear the first bit of French twitter from those French wonders, there's a smile stretched over my face, most embarassingly. Yes the coffee is not great, but is getting better. The almond croissant absolutely decadent.
But it does provide enchantment, a smart set up, brilliant, I desire to commend. That dreamy franchise of feminine French 'twitter', delectable!
