Choi's

Choi's has been around forever. For countless years, this local diner has been serving up some of the best provincial Chinese cooking you're likely to find in Hawthorn.

Cantonese and regional stalwarts are always a solid choice (peking duck, anyone?), but look out for the specials board. It contains some of the best value and taste you're likely to find at Choi's.

Excellent quality food, but you might have to wait a bit for it
Our table ordered the banquet which covered a wide variety of dishes - perhaps one dish less may have been better as we were very full by the end. The food was excellent quality and very tasty - loved the Peking duck and the Oysters. Some of the best Chinese I've had and I would definitely go to Choi's again.

Service was friendly and efficient - which is espeically impressive given how busy the restaurant was.

The only downsides were the noise levels and the wait. We were in the second (8PM) session and did have to wait a bit for our table - and as there was only a very small foyer most of us ended up waiting outside. Not so bad in Summer, probably not very enjoyable in Winter!

Great quality food
Choi's is a great restaurant not sure why 'richmondboy' said otherwise, I have eaten there about seven times and only once did I feel it wasn't up to the usual standard. Every other time it has been fantastic and everyone I take there is really impressed and become regulars themselves.

For entree I love the spinach turnover, it may be fairly small but it tastes great.

For mains my friends and I will often share kung bow chicken and the honey mustard pork or vegitarian sezchuan dish.

The deserts are really nice especially the red bean pancakes, yum!

Solid suburban Chinese
Went here after hearing good things about the restaurant but was let down.

The menu was huge, far too big in my opinion but at least you know everyone will find something they like.

The highly regarded Peking Duck was good but nothing special. The skin should have been more tasty and the sauce served with it was far too sweet.

The mains were good, especially the Three Pot Suace Chicken.

The atmosphere was pretty dull and the staff overly attentive, but this is the case in many Chinese restaurants.

Not your average Chinese
Good food and service, if you can cope with the 'sessions', one at 6PM and the next at 8PM, don't try booking any other times!
