The long-awaited sister restaurant to the hugely successful Woolloomooloo original, China Doll, expect this incarnation to have all the same fantastic flavours, just in a beachside setting.
Don't let the name fool you. This is not simply a beachside Chinese restaurant (and thankfully, it also has nothing to do with a similarly named US TV series from the late '80s). This is modern Asian at its finest, with a solid grounding in classic techniques balanced by progressive flavours and combinations.
Even if the Pacific wasn't staring you in the face, the shorefront locale is unmistakeable. From the stark, white walls to the cushioned benches and bright mosaic floor tiles - everything here is light, summery and designed to put the taste of saltwater on your lips. The progressive menu follows suit with an array of seafood dishes, with culinary influences ranging from China Doll favourites to southern Thai staples.

A wonderful birthday lunch
A group of us had a divine lunch experience at China Beach. Great food from the reasonably priced tasting menu, throughout to the mains and delicious desserts. Service was delightful and friendly and the setting relaxing. The decor is very unique too. Made from a memorable lunch and one I would high recommend.
