Such bad service and atmosphere we left before ordering the mains
We had decided to go to Chanti on Collins because it was in the Gold section of the entertainment book ( So we figured it would be nice!) I had looked it up on Google in the morning and read the reviews on this website, But I thought that most people who write on these sites will only write bad reviews and surely if it was that bad it wouldn't be in the Gold section of the book. When we arrived at 7.30 to see only 2 tables we occupied. We were seated in the middle of the walkway between the kitchen and the entrance we I thought was a bit poor seeing as there were plenty of tables avaliable.Perhaps they didn't want to walk to far from the kitchen. We ordered Drinks we had 2 wines a Bacardi and coke and a Martini. The Martini didn't come in a Martini Glass the Waitress apologised that they didn't have the correct glass. The coke was completly flat in The Barcardi so we called the Waitres over and her response was "but I have only just open the bottle?" In the end she did replace the drink. We then ordered Breads and dip to share. Whilst we were enjoying a conversation over our started we were stopped 5 times to ask if we were ready to order our mains. Twice the waitress stood over us even though we had said we wanted to wait. Then she said but the kitchen closes at 9pm (on a Friday night!). We pleaded for another 5 minutes, during which time I went outside and called another restaurant to see if they could fit us in! We paid for our Starters and left!

Worst restaurant experience I've ever had
As a surprise my mother booked myself and my boyfriend into Chianti's for $180 5 course meal for Valentine's Day.
To say it was the worst restaurant experience is an understatement. We arrived and were seated and given Champagne and bread to start. We were impressed by this. However not long into our bread, couples around us started to walk out- apparently they had not received any service and had not even got a hint of their meal. However my boyfriend and I decided that we would stay, and surely it couldn't be that bad.
When my mother had booked she had asked whether they had vegetarian options, which they assured her that they did. However when it came to taking our order, after two hours, I was informed no that there was no vegetarian option, could I just miss the main course?
We then waited 4 hours, and received only our bread and apertifs, and so left.
I cannot rate the food, because we never got any, but I can truly say the service and the atmosphere were dismal.
A few weeks later we did receive an $80 voucher to go back to the restaurant. However when I called to see if I might be able to extend the voucher a week, as it was my boyfriend and my 1 year anniversary- I was met with a rude and unhelpful no. I have given Chianti's the opportunity to redeem themselves and they failed miserably.
I would highly recommend that you don't go there - why support a restaurant that ruined not just mine, but many other couples' special day.

What a disappointing change
From one of my favourite restaurants in Perth, so much so I was considering having my wedding reception there, Chianti has now slipped to one of my least favourite.
After booking a birthday dinner for 30 people for my 30th birthday, only 26 were able to make and some didn't reply until the last moment as people do. I was then charged $70 per head for those who could not make it which left me hundreds of dollars out of pocket on my birthday! Even after all the business we have given to Chianti. The service was terrible, a year ago there were properly trained staff, on this night we had about six young people swarming the table, our orders were wrong, our drinks were warm and the food was very average. Left a very bitter taste in my mouth. Not a birthday to remember.

Very disappointing
Not worth the money. It is very expensive, the service is poor. We ordered bread and they sent out every bread they had on the menu. All we wanted was the bread with balsamic vinegar & oil. They sent us 2 salads when we only ordered 1 and even before we had ordered our desserts, they were bringing them out. We sent them back. The food was very plain and limited taste. The oysters were not shucked properly. And then at the end of it, they charged extra to pay with the credit card when you have already spent so much with them. It was a table of 8 people celebrating 3 Birthdays. I do not mind spending money on good food, but this was not good at all.

Living on reputation - not fine dining at all
This was categorised as "fine dining" and nothing could be further from the truth. Note: there is a 7.5% surcharge on Fri/Sat and 2% for credit card - this should be noted in the book in my opinion. Regardless, the place was very cold which killed any ambience. The highlight in the food was the garlic bread (at $9.50+ for 3 small slices). From there, the oysters kilpatrick were cold and not grilled properly. Also used table salt to bed them on the plate which was different. Also pieces of shell throughout the oysters. The mains consisted of trio of sausages and a seafood chowder. The sausages were effectively $10++ each and could have come from a supermarket. The chowder (entree size) tasted strongly like the base was made from prawn shell/heads. There was one prawn, two scallops and two small bits of fish. No bread (only with main size). We ordered vegetables with the sausages ($8.50+) and were charged twice because there was two of us - we didn't request x2. Why would you order vegetables with soup? When I went to pay the bill, the owner argued that it was serving for two so we have to pay.
The restaurant wasn't that busy but the service was poor.
