The grand dame of Hutt Street, Chianti Classico remains inimitable and stunning as ever. Everything Italian is done to perfection here, from the uovo alla diavola (eggs baked in terracotta with napoletana sauce, hot chilli, basil and extra virgin olive oil) for breakfast to the cacciucco alla Livornese (a fish stew from the Tuscan city of Livorno of local flathead, king prawns, calamari, mussels and scallops gently poached in light tomato and fish broth) for dinner. Sit back with the regulars for lunch on a Friday afternoon and survey the hustle and bustle of Hutt Street, while enjoying some of Adelaide's best offerings.
Gourmet Travller 2009 Australian Restaurant Guide - "Italy is everywhere at this grand Hutt Street institution: its sleek decor, the robust flavours of its dishes, the perfect pronunciation of the all-Italian menu."

The best lunch ever!
I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend to lunch at Chianti Classico.
I haven't been to a restaurant before where ALL the staff were beyond nice and so attentive. Everyone was just so wonderful. It was my birthday and they really got on board with spoiling us with above excellent service.
We shared two mains and two sides and I enjoyed drinking my first ever Bellini! (peach liqueur and champagne). We shared an Italian sausage gnocchi and the angus beef. Our sides were crispy potatoes with rosemary and asparagus with grated parmesan. Both dishes were more delicious than I could have ever hoped for and I don't think we left a scrap on the plate.
Overall I will definitely be back here. It is such a wonderful place to go with beautiful hosts and we felt so welcome and wanted and that our business was appreciated. All this aside - the food was fantastic!!!

For special occasions
After walking past this place daily on my way to work we planned a special night out with family visiting from overseas. The food was gorgeous, the waiter was excellent - very informative and knew the wines well. As it is quite expensive I will not be a regular diner but look forward to the next special occasion or the day I win lotto. Only negative part was that we had to sit outside which was our fault for only booking 5 days in advance however they did provide lap rugs which was cute!
