The heart of Little Italy is not the most obvious place to find a Thai restaurant, but let's welcome Chiangmai Thai Cuisine with open minds - and mouths. While Italian food is more about the tomato and cheese, Thai food delves into the delicate world of spices. This place in particular shines the limelight on northern Thai cuisine, a herb- and spice-filled aroma-fest if there ever was one.
Always-reliable favourites such as the spicy tom yum soup, yellow coconut curry (with meats, vegies or seafood) and traditional Thai chilli stir-fries are readily available, but more interesting are the chef's "exotic" recommendations; Highlights include the gang hung lay (a thick curry with pork belly) and the gang pett ped yang (a tropical-style, home-cooked roast duck dish). This intimate maroon-hued dining space extends into an umbrella-covered table area in the open air and buzz of the strip.

chilled atmosphere and great food
I had the Pad See Ew which was faultless - good, simple food with great flavour. My cousin had the Gang Keow Wan which she orders every time she goes here. The overall decor is a mixture of metallics and deep brown woods with ornate dividers and lantern lights. The accent the tables with fuchsia flowers which is lovely, however the completely fuchsia booths in the front are a little over the top but very comfy. The vibe is very chilled out and laid back with plenty of space between tables so conversation can flow freely. If I mind myself hungry and on lygon st I would definitely return
