Restaurant Information
Chez Pierre
Transforming a former Turkish kasbah-style eatery into a provincial French garden bistro is not an easy task, but owner Pierre Ichallalene, son of renowned Perth chef Jean-Daniel Ichallalene, loves a challenge. The renovations on the former Eminem premises have added an element of class which matches its classic French cuisine. The food is simple and fresh, and through the warmer months best enjoyed in the leafy courtyard.

Brilliant food and service
Right from the moment we entered the restaurant, the waiters were attentive, polite and excellent with their service.
We decided on the degustation menu with 7 tasting dishes and were promptly served with the first dish. Every dish was divine, with some adventurous twists and sauces that matched perfectly, and obvious attention to presentation and detail. The standout dishes included the scallop (entree - so fresh and tender) and the lamb cutlets (perfectly cooked with delicious light herb crust). The waiters cleared the table promptly after each dish, and there were no long waits for the food.
Considering the quality of the food and the number of dishes served (we were certainly well fed!), we thought the prices were quite reasonable.
I would definitely recommend Chez Pierre - fantastic for intimate dinners, special occasions, or a night out with friends. And to top off a brilliant night, by the time we'd paid the bill one of the waiters was already waiting to open the front door for us and wish us a pleasant evening.

Lovely, but oh-so daggy!
I was so disappointed to see the funky modern Moorish decor of the former Eminem restaurant undergo a makeover akin to the living room of my elderly parents! Doesn't do any favours for the ambience of the restaurant. Such a shame, but it was a lovely evening out regardless. I love French cuisine, and this didn't disappoint, if a little too traditional. I was hoping for a quirky twist on traditional, knowing that the restaurant is owned by the son of the grand duke of the French restaurant in Perth (and its surrounds), Pierre Ichallalene. Service, also, was not as I had hoped or expected, frankly.

Average meal for an outrageous sum of money
We received a voucher for this restaurant, which is why we went in the first place. Pretentious dining isn't usually our kind of fun, but if that's what you like, then this is the place for you.
The food was alright (starters particularly nice, and the dessert was alright too) but certainly not worth the money we paid for it. It is also annoying when a French place charges money for bread - if they're trying to be true to French customs, this certainly isn't the way to do that...
The atmosphere was nice though, the place is nicely decorated. The waiters were a bit in your face, though, for example serving bread when you didn't need it yet (and charging for it). But they were friendly enough.
All in all we had a nice evening, but it was just so incredibly overpriced.
