From the polished decor of the interior to its outdoor cafe seating with an army of heaters in winter, Chapelli's always-open restaurant is certainly Melbourne's iconic fixture for late-night munchers and a haven for purveyors of Chapel Street's vibrant nightlife. Although the menu focuses on classic Italian fare with a variety of pastas on offer, Chapelli's boasts a vast assortment of international cuisines with Aussie burgers, Middle Eastern dips, Turkish bread, Greek salads and Mexican nachos to name just a few of the dishes available. A location at the Toorak end of Chapel Street also makes it the perfect spot for a simple coffee and sample from the lethally tempting cake display before a movie at the nearby Jam factory cinemas. Whether it's a pancake breakfast at 3am or steak with chips for lunch, Chapelli's serves well as a meeting place and popular lunch spot.

Convenient, but complacent
The best aspect of Chapelli's is that it is open 24 hours on most days of the year (it has let us down on Christmas Day several times, despite claiming to be open 24/7). Their menu has a diverse range of meals and it is hard to find a better sit-down meal at 1am! The prices have recently been increased, and while I am happy to pay more to have a late night meal, you could easily find another restaurant with food of a similar standard much cheaper during the day. The least impressive aspect of Chapelli's is the service. While there are some friendly, helpful staff at Chapelli's, there are also several others who are often rude, unpleasant and don't seem to understand the concept of good customer service - and If you ask for a bottle of water, expect to ask again, as it never comes out the first time.

Terrible place not just once but three times
You definitely will not get your moneys' worth if you eat there. First time I had bad experience was when I went with a group of friends and we had a meals there and we used two Entertainment coupons there. When we believed we were unfairly charged it took them 30min before we agreed that the bill was properly fixed because first time they charged us for drinks we did not order and had to get it fixed again because when the discounted the price they took the entree discount price off when the vouchers specifically said we get one main complimentary free when one is purchased. They treated us like third class citizens. Second time I had trouble there was when I ordered a Chicken Risotto. Flavourless for the price you pay especially when you are gonna order a 5 dollar juice just to make sure it goes down properly. That equates to nearly 30 dollars. You can get better meal and service when you pay that money in Richmond restaurants so they need to lift their standards or else I'm just gonna feel sorry for people who are still going there. Third time bad was when again I ordered a meal for me and one of my friend and used a Coupon I got the following year. This time when I went for a bill at the counter the same guy collecting the money was there. When I went to the counter holding the voucher he already had the bill ready for me. But I told him I had this voucher. He was quiet then he wandered off 2 metres and told me to wait (rudely) then when he worked out the bill just handed to me without even looking me in the face. This place even though it is a family business it obviously doesn't think it needs to gain loyalty from customers and don't think it needs good word of mouth to expand its business. I can tell them now if another restaurant opens by one block away that's open 24 hrs and can serve similar menu but better at it a little bit then they surely won't survive and don't deserve to.. And one word if you don't like taking coupons then don't register with 'entertainment book'. Chapelli is pathetic.

Good Stuff!
One of my favourite places to eat on Chapel Street!
Chapelli's boasts a comfortable, stylish and pleasurable atmosphere, the food is always of the highest standard, fresh and tasty. The most difficult thing was choosing from the menu, everything looks and sounds delicious while being reasonably priced. Staff are entirely competent, friendly and very helpful ensuring an enjoyable dining experience.
All my visits to Chapelli's have been positive and I look forward to returning each time. A large drawcard being the round the clock operation and suitable for a pleasant meal at any time of the day.
I highly recommend this one.

For the lazy afternoon...
I didn't come for a meal (almost never for a meal). Most times my friends and I come there for afternoon tea or dessert. And the cakes are yummy! Good environment to catch up with your friends.

I would not recommend Chapelli's to anyone. The food is definitely not worth your money. I went one night with some friends and we were all disappointed with our meals. We started with an entree of oysters, which were average. But the main meals were really disgusting. I had ordered calamari rings which were served with a side of salad and chips. The salad had no dressing and when I got half way through it I could taste the salt that the oysters had been served on in the lettuce - that's right, the salad that was in the centre of the oyster dish (possibly not even our own?) had been recycled and served to me as a side salad for my main. DISGUSTING! One of my friends ordered cannelonni which was floating in liquid. It was absolutely appalling. I tried it and there was no flavour at all. It tasted like water. She was so put off she refused to eat. Another one of my friends had ordered a steak which he said was edible but very small. However the side serving of mashed potato and steamed vegetables was revolting. The mashed potato was the consistency of liquid - clearly it had been watered down. Looked like prison food and the vegetables were cold. We paid for our meals (which came to almost $200) and left Chapelli's feeling ripped off.
