As any Newtown regular could attest, Thai restaurants are a dime a dozen on King Street. But that's obviously a good thing because they just continue to pop up, as is the case with Chao Thai. This little eatery sits on the lower end of King Street, and from outside you can smell the sensuous scents of lemongrass, chilli, basil and other distinctive Thai ingredients. As with the other local Thai restaurants, Chao Thai lets you choose just how you want your curries, stir-fries and noodles, offering vegetarian, chicken, beef, pork, duck, prawn and seafood varieties. The chef's specials include basil fish fillet, massaman lamb shanks, and sizzling seafood on a hot plate - sounds tempting, right?
