One of the Gold Coast's favourite quick, cheap eateries, Cha Cha has been growing constantly in popularity since it originally opened in 1994. Owners Jack and Maiko are like local celebrities around these parts and have friendly, warm relationships with virtually all their customers.
The restaurant has grown from its original shopfront to swallow the patisserie next door and include tables spilling out onto the pavement outside, but even with the added space, the place is always bustling and busy and filled with happy-looking folk hoeing into their bowls and plates full of fried, steamed, seared and raw Japanese meals. The food is good, solid, no-fuss Japanese, with plenty for vegetarians and vegans, and the legions of fans love this place for its genuinely spicy options. Don't expect the Ritz, as the space is basic, but do expect some good, fresh, made-to-order dishes and a good night.
