Capriccio

The rough brick exterior and country cottage-style red awning out the front of Capriccio hints at the old-fashioned warmth of the interior. Serving hearty Italian cuisine since 1980, this popular restaurant manages to be as homely and welcoming as a well-loved old jumper, without lapsing into culinary lethargy. The menu offers an incredibly extensive range of Italian favourites, from antipasto platters to Italian-style seafood, with plenty of specials besides. The meat section is a highlight, ranging far beyond the usual steak and parma, to dishes such as veal in a white wine and blue cheese sauce or steak with a Sicilian tomato sauce.

Lovely Dinner
I'd been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while - what better excuse than family from interstate being in town. It was a neat enough and cosy atmosphere, and we were shown to our table and served drinks promptly. The food was delightful and main course serves were not only perfectly cooked, but on the large side as well, for all the big eaters out there. Service throughout was casual, and humourous, with a good laugh being had on occasion with our waitress. All up, a lovely meal in nice surrounds. Owner was a bit grumpy though - but the rest of the staff were terrific.

First impressions are not always right
Upon entering the restaurant it looked lovely, but that didn't last very long. Upon ordering we asked for 1 dozen oysters kilpatrick and were informed there were only a half dozen left only to hear other tables order the oysters to be told the same thing - considering there is only a few dollars differnece between a half dozen and a dozen, this seems a bit suspicious. The Beef risotto has enough chilli in it to burn the mouth of even the biggest chilli lovers. The service was sloppy and un co-ordiated with the wrong drinks being bought to the table and then the wrong meals. This combined with the fact that the menu shown on their website is extremely out of date ($32 for a steak compared to the $39 on the menu in house) and an extravegant charge of $8.50 for a bottle of water that tasted like tap water, will have us telling anyone that asks that this is a restaurant that will DEFINITELY NOT be recommended.

Oysters Kilpatrick and the steaks
Definately a stand-out restaurant within Adelaide. Hidden away to a degree, comfortable, cosy and classy service.
