Caphs Cafe, Bar and Restaurant is a historic dining venue located in the heart of Canberra's inner south. Caphs Restaurant is a heritage listed building and is the only restaurant in this region that has continued trading since 1926. Since its opening, Caphs has received a multitude of awards; including most recently the ACT's Best Family Restaurant for 2010.
Caphs provides outdoor dining and one of Manuka's largest indoor seating areas. Their extensive menu consists of Modern Australian Cuisine with a Mediterranean influence, and is available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The kids menu has something to suit any child and doubles as entertainment with fun puzzles and colouring in. Highchairs are readily available.
During the week, Caphs provides the perfect environment for the business luncheon, a place to stop for great coffee whilst boutique shopping, a quiet (or not so quiet) drink with friends or a family outing. Large bookings can be easily accommodated for and set menus are available upon request.

Enjoyable
I don't head out to Manuka that often, but this is certainly one of the restaurants worth heading out there for.
Good food and no faults with the service, it is a good, safe bet for a good meal out.

Caph's not all it's cracked up to be
The food and atmosphere at this cafe/restaurant was great, but I would not go back again because of the service. This is a shame as the rest of the place has a lot to offer. We found it difficult to get our very young waiter's attention, and the other lady serving us threw the bill down at us in a rude manner. Upon asking to see the manager at the end of our meal, we again were treated rudely and waited for 15 minutes as we watched her stack glasses, even though she was aware we wanted to speak to her. The meal also took a long time to come, which was unusual as it was so quiet and only a Monday night.

Always a great meal
Caph's is one of our favourite Canberra restaurants.
It has great steaks and appetising specials. The garlic bread is delicious, it's worth going just for that! The servings are generous and the prices are reasonable. I couldn't comment on the dessert menu as I'm always too full to try it.
Inside the atmosphere is cosy and you don't feel too close to your fellow diners; outside is great for people watching. The wait staff are efficient and friendly.
It's also open on Monday nights when many restaurants are closed.
