What's not to love about tapas? You don't have to decide on just one dish and risk scoring a dud (making it popular with commitment-phobes) and with everything designed to share, this style of eating dispenses with any 'thou shall not covet thy neighbour's meal' guilt. It's no wonder that every second restaurant in town is jumping on the tapas/mezze/charcuterie/'share-plates' bandwagon.
However, Cantina avoids accusations of trend-following by adopting a bit of an old-school style. The menu features a range of authentic and semi-authentic Spanish and Portuguese dishes, with a few Greek and Moroccan flavours thrown in for good measure: think spicy meatballs, sizzling garlicky prawns and a chickpea salad.
The decor confidently treads the line between trendy and cosy with comfy, bobbly-fabric-covered banquettes and bare polished wooden tables, while the funky, swirly feature wall behind the bar contrasts comfortably with the rustic exposed beams. Sangria is virtually compulsory and gets the big tick as a tasty concoction that won't leave you reeling from excess booze. However, for those who like their liquid refreshment with a bit of burn, Cantina is amassing an impressive collection of tequilas - ideal for a post-prandial margarita, or a hair-curling shot to kick-start the night.

I would recommend this palce
We had a party of 5, and arrived with a booking. We were sat straight to our table, and the place was not over full. We decided to get the $40 banquet. The amount of dishes was definitely enough, even more than enough. The quality was great. Especially the Haloumi with capsicum. Lamb meatballs were average ( depending on your taste). Dips were really good. Chickpea salad ok, but maybe not worth having in a $40 banquet. There was also a salad of pumpkin, pinenuts and cant remember what else, but that was ok too. Overall the food was fairly good, although maybe the $40 price tag is not really warranted for the banquet, well not for us with 5 people. Maybe if you had a party of more than 8 or so, it might be ok. I'm sure if we ordered the same dishes individually each portion size would be smaller. Would recommend to others, however maybe suggest to pick your own dishes, and have a look at what others are having around you before you order.
