Like most great little diners in Melbourne, this one has its roots firmly in Italy's cafe culture, right down to the strong espresso and black-and-white tiled floors.
Caffe e Torta doesn't try anything too fancy, but what it does, it does exceptionally well. From a strong and rich Genovese coffee to a juicy steak sandwich, if it's cafe fare you're after, then you've come to the right place. A word of warning though: This one is no secret, so expect to battle the crowds if you head here during peak food hours.
