Expect the music at Cafe Rosamond to swing from the latest in funky tunes to the very best of Neil Young. Expect the morning sun to burst forth through partially clad windows. Expect well-thumbed morning papers to be sitting upon bric-a-brac furniture. And expect to go without a cushy couch or chair if you show up for breakfast too late in the morning.
If you do score a spot, you'll get a juicy feast of all that makes a fast worth breaking: bacon, eggs, thick golden toast, creamy coffee in wide-rimmed cups, fresh juice and, very importantly, a relaxed waiter handing over everything you order. Cafe Rosamond is small but stately, busy but relaxed - and increasingly cultish. Master pastry chef Pierre Francois Roelofs (with a name like that, could he be anything else?) now oversees their Thursday night 'dessert only' evenings, where guests can choose from one, two or three desserts. For something different, try the vibrant science lab 'dessert tubes'.
