Ringing with raucous laughter and toe-tapping Latin sounds, Pacifico has got to be one of Sydney's liveliest restaurants - doubling, as it does, as the ultimate tequila haven. Surrounded by retro Mexican adverts, Pacifico's fans cluster around bare wooden tables, tucking into what's described as Californian-style Mexican food. What this amounts to a menu chock full of fajitas, quesadillas and tacos - the ideal fuel for a big night out. There are great-value banquets available, with enough food to soak up the worst excesses of sangria, margaritas or Latin beers.

Cafe Pacifico used to be a groove
Such is life. Everyone wants to make a buck and we all have to survive. Past staff and managers at the Cafe were there to make your night enjoyable and ensure that you had a big laugh with the reasonable food and great margaritas. But owners have cracked down with some changes and the old, groovy staff are out and the focus is now on moving them in and out. It's not a social place to hang with the people who you could chat with and sometimes drink with. Of course, if it was really hurting their bottom line, then I guess it had to be done. But the place was always packed and the bar was crowded. Now they are charging for the corn chips and really, corn chips make people drink. Folks gotta learn that you give away a bit of something and the return can be so big. Ah well, the good old days can't last forever!
