This cafe and bar could be described as very backstreets-of-Surry-Hills: arty and eclectic, without the high gloss of some of its Crown Street contemporaries. The cafe offers simple food with an emphasis on freshness and flavour. All the regular breakfast treats can be found on their morning menu, from muesli with poached pears and crushed pistachios to French toast. Lunches and dinners feature similarly familiar cafe classics, from salads to huge bowls of pasta. Pizzas are a highlight, particularly if you're just dropping in for a sneaky glass (read: bottle) of wine; these crispy-based creations are an ideal snack that won't ruin your dinner - or not much anyway. Post-prandial entertainment involves watching the intriguing mix of locals - from musicians and graff artists, to young entrepreneurs and scenesters - who're sprawled over the quirky collection of couches.

A little bit of Melbourne in Sydney
Cafe Lounge is one of my favourite places in Sydney. Great vibe, lots of cool mismatched couches in corners of the room. The food is really tasty and generally pretty good value. Drinks are on the pricier side, but arriving for an afternoon here either for wine or cups of tea, you'll find yourself whiling away the hours till the early morning.
The last couple of times I have been there the service was pretty bad. The worst was on a busy Friday night. We ordered a dips plate and not only did it take an hour and a half to get to us, it was only after the THIRD time I had gone up to the waitress to remind her that we had placed an order. The cooks threw something together then and there, but I was incredibly disappointed and it tainted my love for the place which is a shame because it has been the place I tell friends visiting that they must go to that they wouldn't find otherwise.
