Couldn't fault it
The views across the city are amazing. The food was excellent, and the prices aren't as expensive as you would expect. The menu is traditional food, and they have a good selection of cheeses. The service was attentive, without being overbearing. We will definitely go back.

I had heard about the views from Cafe La, so I have to be honest - it was my main reason for my dinner reservation. It certainly lived up the the hype - the gorgeous twilight views of Melbourne and the bay were spectacular.

However, what surprised me was the quality of food and service. It really was excellent. The dishes were simple, but done very well with what seemed to be a focus on top quality produce. I dined with a gluten-free plus a vegetarian, and we were all accomodated by what the menu offered (as well as additional suggestions made by the wait staff to suit our needs). Service was prompt and friendly, although not intrusive; exactly what you want.

The views have long been the selling point for Cafe La, but don't be misled - there is plenty more on offer. This really is a hidden gem and definitely worth giving a go.
