Definitely recommend for family celebration
We went to Cafe Gioia with the family for lunch today for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We were a group of twelve. The service and food was very good. Our waiter was always polite and we did not need to worry about getting his attention, he was there promptly whenever we needed anything. He was friendly and helpful as were all the other staff who looked after us.I recommend Cafe Gioia. Some of us had pizza, others had pasta and some tried the veal and chicken dishes - all tasted very good. As an added bonus there is parking at the premises, which meant not having the problem of trying to find parking in busy Leichhardt on a Saturday. My family and I all enjoyed our experience at Cafe Gioia and definitely recommend it to others.

Group dinner
I must start by saying I've been to this restaurant many times in the past. It has been a family favourite for a long time. However my more recent experiences here haven't been that great at all.
Yesterday I along with ten friends went here for dinner. On a night where the restaurant was half full it took repeated waves to try and get the assistance of the wait staff. This didnt work and so i had to get up and actually ask someone to come and serve us. We were not the only people that had this problem. The couple on the table beside us walked out because of not receiving service.
The food was fairly good. Portions were large and most of us were more than satisfied. I had my favorite capriciosa pizza which was pretty good.
For dessert I had the baked ricotta cheese cake and a latte. The cake was dry and bland. Even the size of the portion did not make up for the poor quality. The latte was served very luke warm with hardly any coffee.
Over all I have been disappointed. I might add its not the first time I've been disappointed by dining here but i always try to give places a second chance having previously worked in the industry.

Thumbs down
The service was poor, I had to order a drink three times before they brought it, and my friends didnt recieve things they ordered either, and the waiters didn't provide a great service. Food wasn't bad though.
