Cafe Gaudi

Like its City counterpart, Cafe Gaudi is smooth and relaxed. But the food and service are just that little bit extra. A great range is available for vegetarians and for anyone who wants dependable, hearty old fashioned Italian food and coffee.

Free high speed wi-fi is available as well as outdoor seating for the warmer Canberra months.

Alway impressed
Im suprised reading the other reviewers comments. I have been there twice for lunch, both times I thought the staff were very friendly and efficent, on the ball with bringing out water bottles etc. Myself and my lunch guest were also very happy with the food.

So much wasted potential
A cafe in a spot like this could do a roaring trade - it could capture office workers during the week, as well as weekend shoppers fortifying themselves before a shopping trip, or needing a break during or afterwards. It would do better if the food was better than its current 'average' standard, although that wouldn't be necessary. But it would require snappy, friendly service to convince diners to overlook the fact that they are basically sitting - exposed - in the foyer of a Westfields. Until then, I don't think I'll be going back - I'd rather take my chances in the food court.

waste of time and money
Just moved to the ACT and am working in Woden. I am optimistically cafe hopping until I find my coffee and barista of choice. I don't mind Vittoria brand coffee so this morning tried Cafe Gaudi. What a pity a cafe with potentially nice coffee employs people who have no idea what to do with it. The boy behind the machine extracted the coffee about ten minutes (I was waiting for takeaway mind you) before heating the milk by letting it stand (not holding to feel for temperature) in a steamer caked with old crusty milk that he didn't wipe once in the whole 15 minutes i stood watching him.

The outcome was a lukewarm, watery, bitter cup of disappointment.

Never again
My Partner and I regularly have breakfast out together. We have eaten at Cafe Gaudi quite a bit and we have noticed that the quality has been steadily dropping. The last meal there will be our last time. I ordered the spanish omelette and my partner ordered poached eggs with bacon and tomato. The omelette was like very dry rubber with no moisture at all. It was actually a struggle to cut with the knife supplied. The poached eggs were hard, the bacon and toast both burnt and very dry and the tomato was still green and under cooked (but by some miracle not burnt). Now we have all had a bad breakfast at one time or another but what makes this one stand out was that despite not eating what we were given (ok we did eat some) and telling the staff, all I got was "I'm very sorry that your breakfast was so bad; that is $36.50 thank you". As I said in my title, never again. I hope this practice of serving terrible food and still charging full price stops. Canberra is too small for such bad service and food.

Yummy but ruined by woeful service
Just had breakfast with my wife at Cafe Gaudi and although the breakfast was nice (although not spectacular) the whole experience was ruined by the woefully bad service.

We ordered 2 big breakfasts and 2 coffees, the latter only arrived after we had finished breakfast and were basically contemplating leaving without waiting for them. We were told when we complained that they were "busy" - odd when the place only looked a quarter full! I'd hate to see their service when they're truly busy! In general, as we sat there, we saw numerous other customers suffering similar service.

Bottom line conclusion - very expensive, although this could be tolerated if it wasn't for the fact that it was coupled with such hopeless service.
