Excellent Restaurant with Wonderful Food !
My partner and I go to Cafe Fidama at least once a week. The food is always excellent, fresh and consistent. The staff have always been prompt and attentive when serving us and not too intrusive. The entrees, mains and desserts are delicious and havent had one average meal in all the years we have been going. Must try breakfast as well - can't wait! The creme brulee and duck risotto is a must for any risotto fans out there. The atmosphere is always pleasant and we love the lighting which gives the place a night glow (very romantic). Its not often you come across a restaurant that is always busy yet you feel like the only people in the room. Keep up the great work and don't ever change!

Working lunch
I dropped into Cafe Fidama for lunch as I was working in the area & was keen to try their food.
My request for a large table, to allow me to spread documents out, was met with no issues. After a quick scan of the menu I selected chicken on corn cakes & a glass of Reiling.
As I poured over the paperwork, nice bread, oil & balsamic and water arrived without any prompting - as it should.
Lunch arrived quickly; the corn cakes proved to be a winner, & the dressing on the salad has a very satisfying zing. I followed this with a nice double shot latte.
All up lunch took an hour which allowed me to get my work done in a relaxing environment, without having to watch the clock re service.
All in all, an excellent lunch in a pleasant environment & I look forward to going back in the future.

Great all round
We had a first birthday / christening function (20 adults, 7 children) at Fidama and were extremely happy with the service, food, wine and attention to detail.

The operation was smooth and well run. My mouth still waters at the very thought of that Black Angus scotch fillet. Everyone who had the steak had smiles on their faces. The same can be said about the wines and the absolutely awesome Pedro Sherry.

The waiters were great, they knew the wines and what they were talking about and very importantly you could sense that they were really passionate about what they did.

We had been going to Fidama for the last 5-6 years and it seems to have only gotten better. It seems that the owners have raised the bar since recently taking over. I have never written reviews on restaurants and felt it was necessary in this case.

My all-time ultimate places have always been Circa the Prince and Stokehouse in St Kilda and while they remain my favourites, my wallet (strongly) disagrees. You get great quality from Fidama and my wallet is much happier.

They have great Margaret River wines, my fave was the Moss Brothers and for white, you can't go past the Dog Point, all reasonably priced.

Well done, you certainly came through and exceeded our expectations. Everyone from the function was extremely happy and impressed by the food and service. You will have them return, I'm sure.

Keep up the good work.

Shame on service
I find myself constantly disappointed at the service here at Cafe Fidama and am sad that after years of regular patronage I will not be returning to the restaurant.
That is not to say the food is not excellent, which it indeed is. A fairly unchanging menu is a slight let down however the specials always please.
Wait staff are continually are abrupt, resulting in an overall unpleasant experience, this is such a shame from great little restaurant which delivers such lovely meals.

Where's the wasabi
I just love this restaurant. I consistently go back time and time again for their excellent fare. Granted the menu has not changed much over the years but the specials board compensates although they do often sell out. My friend and I both ordered the Pacific oysters tempura with wasabi mayonnaise & cucumber pickles. Lightly battered fresh oysters served in a spoon with cucumber pickles and a dollop of wasabi mayo. I dream about these things! Divine... but as the years go by, Fidama are getting shy with the wasabi. Bring it on!
For main, the parmesan and herb-encrusted veal served on rocket. Fabulous crisp crust with a suitably tart lemony flavour on delicate rounds of veal. Yum!

Mixed bag
I've eaten at Cafe Fidama several times, alone and with family and friends.

The food is very good indeed, all the way through the menu from entree to dessert.

Service is just 'OK' - staff can be curt. They also ban 'BYO birthday cakes', which seems petty to us - must get those extra few bucks for dessert, no matter how large the crowd you bring along apparently. So only one star for service.
