A self-described "basic restaurant", Cafe Bella Rosa has moved its modest digs to the corner of Archer and Planet Streets, in Carlisle, from its long-standing home on busy Albany Highway. "Simple" might be a more appropriate adjective than "basic" though, because when it comes to its food, Cafe Bella Rosa is anything but. The penne arrabiata is a big hit, loaded with spicy Italian sausage; and the veal scaloppine has won popularity for its tenderness. One of the best things about this buzzing cafe is its value for money, especially when you look at the size of the portions - and of course there's nothing better than sitting outside watching the world go by with a glass of your favourite red.

Rude service by the Manager
The food was nice and the wait staff were friendly. The female Manager spoiled the night out. She was rude and wanted us to leave even though we were still eating our desserts. This restaurant is very busy because the food prices are reasonable and the servings are large.
Reading the the previous reviews, I can see I am not the only one that has received the rude service from the female Manager.

Good food, terrible management
Good hearty food, but lousy treatment of customers by management. Our table of 10 (we had entrees, mains and dessert) were harassed to leave mid-way through dessert to make room for the next party who had arrived early. We were giving no forewarning. The manager was rude and surly, even as we tried to expediate eating our cakes and sorting out the bill.
Will not be back. A shame because the food was quite nice.

beautiful
my partner and i arrived at cafe bella rosa at 6:30. We were seated very quickly and a lovely waitress took our order. The food was beautiful and the service was excellent. The only let down was that as we went to pay the bill there was a rude lady abusing the lady at the cash register.Overall it was a beautiful night.

poor service
Wednesday night- popped in for dinner, due to recently purchasing an Entertainment book- great for visiting and trying new places. Food was good and service acceptable. On receiving the bill, I questioned the extras- I was billed double for a 'side'($6 instead of $3 for a side of asparagus) as the side was on a salad and not on a pasta (the column of extra prices is purely for the pastas!), and was charged $2 pp for corkage- fine, but the menu says $1 pp (I was told it was too difficult to change the menu!). The member of staff I questioned then continued to debate with me and advised me that customers should ask questions as the staff can't tell customers everything! I am passionate about customer service and Cafe Bella Rosa certainly didn't live up to any of the basic expectations I have regarding customer service. The prices were acceptable- the lack of communication regarding them was unacceptable.

Sardines
Great food as always, but despite having booked a table, we had a ridiculous wait. Having to shout your conversation is never enjoyable, and my companions and I were knocked in the head several times as fellow diners and waitstaff walked past, which totally ruined the night. While the staff are friendly, they clearly aren't well trained.

Not for a romantic dinner for two
I love Bella Rosa and have been a avid fan of this restaurant for a few years now. But the last time I booked we were told to go away and come back in 10 mins because our table (which we had booked) was not ready. And recently I came wanting my partner to experience the Bella Rosa food and as soon as our meal was finished the waitress (who was a real sweetie by the way) asked us to go and sit at another table for coffee. Needless to say we didnt stay for coffee; the tables were all too close and it was uncomfortable for myself and my partner. I may in the future come for lunch when it's not so busy and people are all crammed in one small area, but I won't be coming for a romantic dinner for two again.

Cramped
10 arrived for dinner, the tables were VERY close together and no one could move, it was extremely noisy but considering how popular the cafe is, no wonder - but it wasn't pleasant shouting. $1 corkage fee per person when only 1 bottle of wine was opened was not feasible, but the food was good. Unfortunately we will not return with a large group.

Good food
Good food but poor service. The restaurant is a tad squishy inside and not the most comfortable dining atmosphere.

Great food, reasonable prices
Just what you look for in a restaurant, good food, service and price, it's my favourite.
