Exhausted every cafe of the Cappuccino Strip on South Terrace? Then it's time to tap into the potential of the less touristy High Street cafe scene, which still maintains that laidback Freo vibe we all love. Indeed, Cafe 55 is one of the gems of this strip, opening up on weekdays and Saturdays for coffee, breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea sessions with a bit of a difference. That difference is that Cafe 55's cuisine is not your average cafe food - it's authentic Vietnamese cuisine encompassing laksas, salads, and noodles, and meat, fish and vegie specialties. If you're lucky you can get a seat on the sunny footpath at an umbrella-shaded table, as you dive headfirst into your noodle soup.
