C Restaurant

This sophisticated revolving restaurant/lounge offers spectacular views and a range of international dishes for lunch and dinner. However, the latest trend for Perth sophisticates is taking high tea in the posh splendour of the restaurant. Mountains of scones and finger sandwiches can be matched with the traditional tea, or perhaps with a glass of champers. Quite civilised, dahling. If afternoon tea extends into the evening, C Restaurant is open late for nightcaps in the bar or Cigar Lounge.

Great experience
My partner and I went to C restaurant for our anniversary on 29th Jan 2012. We had a 6pm sitting and were seated right away when we arrived. We shared the gnocchi as our entree which was incredible. The pasta was soft and tasty and the sauce was delicious. We didn't have to wait very long for our mains to come out. I had the chicken breast as my main, it was cooked in lemon and herb sauce. It didn't look very big but filled me up. My partner had the beef wellington which was cooked medium rare, just as he'd asked. The pastry was delicious and the walnut salad he had was delicious. For dessert, I had the venezuelan chocolate mousse with blood orange. It had an amazing flavour with the sweetness of the chocolate and the tartness of the orange. My partner had the poached rhubarb with strawberry sorbet and marscapone cream. I am not a rhubarb fan but it was delicious and the cream was to die for. We were seated at the window in the perfect spot for the sunset and we left at 8.30. The only downside was that, although the service was great when we received it, it took a few goes to get attention from the staff especially as the restaurant filled up later on in the evening. All in all, it was a great night with good food and fantastic views. I would recommend this as a place to go out for a special night but be warned that once it gets busy, the staff may need to be nudged a few times.

Really enjoyed High Tea
My wife and I took the four kids to High Tea as a Christmas present. Given the average website reviews we were not exepcting too much but thought the kids wouldnt notice if it wasnt up to scratch given the fanatastic views and the novelty of the experience. I must say we were very pleasantly surprised. The service was efficent and mostly very friendly. The food was tasty and there was plenty to go around (including for a 16 year old boy). Overall we had a great time and enjoyed the high tea exerience and great views for 2.5 hours. We would recommend it.

The view, the view, only the view.
I've been to this place 2 times.
The second time in August and it was a bit better on the food side.
The service is the same, you seem to be ignored.
Only like it for the view and as a kids place.
Only do lunch there coz less pricy than dinner.

Hen's High Tea
Prior to having my Hen's High Tea at C, I had read alot of bad reviews. I was very worried about the experience I would have at C considering what we anticpiated we would spend. So, I called C and spoke to the manager about what I had read. He explained to me how our High Tea would run and that if we had any issues - (Bad food) we could expect a full refund. He assured me the restaurant handled bad reviews seriously and they tackled them one at a time. On arrival we were seated right by the windows and were immediately served. The hostess was lovely and we never had to ask more than once for something. When we did ask for something it was there within minutes. The food was delicious and fresh and filling. The cocktails were spot on and the tea and coffee was very very good. C is not cheap and a 1st class experience is what you pay for and this is what we got. I have emailed the manager and thanked him for looking after my booking as promised and we couldnt have asked for anything better. I will go back without hesitation.

Birthday meal
I made a telephone reservation by phone for a 6pm dinner. In my haste to make the booking I forgot to add that I was requesting a table with a view. I rang back and added not knowing the layout of the dining area and that the night was to mark my wife's birthday would a table with a view be possible? I was informed tables by the window could not be guaranteed but my request was noted. Thankfully on arrival at 6pm (Dinner commences from 6pm) our table by the window was awaiting us. To be honest at that time there were no shortage of window tables so I can only assume I got the party line regarding reserving same.
Having previously read up on previous reviews I was a little tense. My experience on the night was that we were well looked after from we arrived until we departed. Service was very prompt and courteous throughout the evening and included prompt taxi call up. I had read 6pm diners were expected to leave by 8 pm. We were finishing off our 3 course at around 8.15pm and there was no attempt to hurry us along. The food was very well presented and a absolute delight to eat; even the basics that sometimes other venues do poorly. The bread and oils were very fresh and I had two children who had the shoestring fries with their meal that were a treat to eat. The only minor negative I had regarding service was the policy of wait staff taking the wine bottle offside after each top up. Clearly this is a house rule and in my mind not a good one, particularly when things do get busy and staff get sidetracked from having to consider the wine levels, or lack of, in their diners glass. Voice of experience.

Views definitely make the venue. I didn't really notice the atmosphere as we were enjoying our own company. Certainly intrusive music was not an issue in this venue. Overall a enjoyable experience for a special occasion.

Very Disappointing
As it was my partners birthday, we decided to take a small group of friends to somewhere we had not been before but were sure was going to be a guaranteed success. We were mistaken.

The service was very poor from the start. Hors d'oeuvres were abandoned on the table by a passing waitress who I assume had better things to do. Although we are still not sure if they were intended for us since they were not put remotely near us or given any description as to what they might consist of, we began our saga with them. I believe they were beef.

Wine glasses would remain unfilled until one of our party took a short walk to where the wine bottle had been left by the waiter. The waiter did try to intercept us once during the trip to the wine bottle but after that left us to our own devices, again I assume he had better things to.

Cocktails were poor and not the quality you would expect for the price. For food, we all ordered the gnocchi in a napolitano and gorgonzola sauce for an entree, and is described on the menu as a 'C Restaurant favourite!'. The gnocchi was pleasant but not the signature dish of a top restaurant. The main courses were average and not served together. Dessert was very poor, mainly consisting of a selection of ice creams, but by this point we were not expecting much.

I really wanted to like C Restaurant. Maybe it is the inner child in me that enjoys the changing scenery and fantastic views that come with this kind of revolving restaurant. Unfortunately, not even the view could persuade me to return. A cheap restaurant would be embarrassed by these standards. But this is not a cheap restaurant and you are not paying cheap restaurant prices.

If you are considering a special evening and think that C Restaurant is going to provide this, I would strongly recommend you reconsider.

What a let down
We went for our wedding anniversary and were told when we booked that a strict dress code applied. My husband dressed in a suit and i wore a black dress only to arrive to find people wearing board shorts and thongs. The tabel we were seated at was at the window, the view was very good, the table however wobbled alot. The entree arrived on large plates which could not fit onto the very small table, the beef cheeks were average nothing to write home about. The main's were also average, very tasteless and werent very well presented. The entertainment was very loud and we could only talk when they had we had moved around. $400 spent on 1 hour's worth of awful food and average service, we would never go back and have told our friends and family not to bother.

Great meal out
We went for dinner just before Christmas, we were welcomed by very attractive and friendly staff. Our meals were really good and had no complaints, the service was also good, they did what they are supposed to do. As for the view - stunning, you can't find a better place to eat in Perth in my opinion.

A Truly Disappointing Evening
This restaurant should be ashamed to be serving food of this quality and asking the prices it does for it. It is not "Fine Dining" more comparable to the dining experience at your local Chinese restaurant.
Our waiter's breath was overpowering and smelt like he'd been drinking all day and he was very brusque.
Our entrees looked like they had been dragged kicking and screaming from the deli section of our local supermarket. The beef was not of the quality expected and the pork was truly gamey and disgusting. The desserts listed on the dinner menu were very unappealing, however the desserts listed on the lunch dessert seemed to offer a better choice. However, our waiter advised us that lunch desserts could not be ordered for dinner. We salvaged something of the evening by not ordering dessert but picking up a lovely box of chocolates on our way home, to eat as dessert.
There was no atmosphere, it had been destroyed by a large group of very loud boozy men.
The view, however, was lovely.
We were very happy that we didn't have to pay full price for this meal, because we had a discount card.
We will never go back.

WONDERFUL
visited the restaurant the other day for the first time with my husband for our 10th wedding anniversary first of all, I could not believe how spectacular the views were, it was truly amazing!! My husband and I both ordered the Chargrilled grass fed beef fillet for a maiin, and the choclate moelleux for dessert they were both delicious and would reccommend this to anyone who would like to go the restaurant. Our waiter was very helpfu and he made our night a very memorable one to remember. I cannot say one negative thing about the restaurant the staff are very delightful and the food was brilliant, THANK YOU C RESTAURANT, and you will be seeing me soon.

average food, rude staff
Just like pete2321 below, we went for the 'Pay what you think' promotion.

We honestly found the food average at best, despite the great view. Since we weren't obliged to pay full price, we decided to pay half price - that's what we thought the food was worth.

When we paid at the counter, the manager wasn't too happy with the amount we paid and started asking rude questions like "Why did you eat the food in the first place if you didn't like that much?" We were shocked to get this kind of treatment from a high class restaurant.

That was by far my worst lunch ever. No exaggeration. Not because of the food, but simply because of the way we were treated.

August Lunch Special
Went for the August 'Pay what you think' promotion. Had the 3 course set lunch, normally $45 pp. I had the Fried squid for entree and my partner had the potato/spinich gnocchi. Both were nice dishes, proportioned nicely and presented well too.

For mains I has the lamb shank, and my partner had the Wagyu beef burger. My dish was pretty mediocre to be honest, serving size was ok, but the lamb was far from being cooked properly and tasted quite bland. If it wasn't for the mash potato that accompanied it, it would have be terrible. The Wagyu burger had a nice taste about it, again the beef was underdone, but the bread and chips with the salad was nice and crisp.

For desserts we had to wait almost 30mins, bit disappointing but i guess there were quite a lot of people there at this time. I had the trio of ice cream and my partner the creme brulee, both were nice dishes. My ice cream was freezing!! Straight out of the fridge i'm guessing, but it still tasted very nice.

Overall the presentation of the meals was excellent, but the mains were average. I guess the main attraction to "C" is the view, and yes it was a magnificent panorama. I think we went around one complete revolution (360 degrees) in just over an hour, so we got to see all of the city, river and king's park...magnificent view.

I ended up paying $70 ($30/set lunch and $10/drinks) for the meal + drinks, so it was a decent meal. Service was attentive but nothing too special, however the atmosphere was quite nice!

View was main attraction
Food was pretty good but not fantastic, also rather expensive, definitely paying for the view. Best part was we dined at 6:30pm and there wasn't one moment when we felt unwanted. We stayed till 11pm drinking wine & eating dessert and not once were we asked to leave - so got to enjoy the view. It's one of those things you have to visit because there's nothing else quite like it.

Overpriced
The tempura was gluggy. The steaks that were ordered medium rare were charcoal. The view obviously was fantastic.
It was expensive, which we have no problem with, if we are getting what we paid for.
