Burnt Orange

From its previous life as a golf club house back in the 1920s to its current form as a double-level and multi-room cafe and retailer, Burnt Orange has certainly come a long way. Retaining much of its colonial charm, this Federation-era mansion has many of the accoutrements of yesteryear, from the manicured gardens to the polished wooden floorboards. The elegant mystique continues into the upstairs cafe, which boasts a wide veranda that frames gorgeous views of Sydney Harbour, The Heads and Manly. To match the sights, Burnt Orange offers a menu of drool-worthy creations ranging from homemade Irish scones to the signature fish pie to the Moroccan orange and almond cake.

Fabulous experience
We really enjoyed our lunch here. The location is outstanding with tables placed around a sweeping verandah overlooking beautiful Sydney Harbour. The service was prompt and courteous. We ordered the pork and apple pie and the seafood pie. They were cooked to perfection. Make sure you try the homemade lemonade - it is so refreshing. I can't wait to get back there.

The initial greeting was poor at the front desk and we had to wait for our booking. The table by the window requested was given to another couple who had no booking and we were seated at a middle table. The waiting staff were very friendly, helpful and informed.
The building and views are superb. The food is average to good and reasonably full.
