Every pub worth its coin has a good story behind it. This one speaks of the great fire of Como, with the historic front door by which this brasserie gets its moniker, serving as a reminder of the town's tragic past. However, the morbid undertones dissipate the second you enter the sun-drenched courtyard, with distant views of glistening Scylla Bay and the grassy reserve stretching out before you.
The restaurant serves basic pub fare, but does offer a few more contemporary items, for good measure. Rumps, burgers and schnitties won't break the bank, but you'll find yourself paying a little more for items like the half duckling with sweet potato mash and port wine jus, or mouth-watering Asian style pork belly.
