The Buenos Aires Brasserie is the latest brainchild of renowned chef Norberto Spagnolo. Norberto is originally from Argentina but became well-known for tempting the rich and glamorous in the Spanish playground of Ibiza. He first made a splash on the Adelaide dining scene 25 years ago and has since continually proven himself one of the country's best Argentine chefs.
The Buenos Aires is all about rustic, hearty dishes served in enormous portions that would make any cardiologist (not to mention dietician) faint with shock. But with offerings such as flattened, grilled quail basted with Norberto's signature glaze, or a whole charcoal-grilled baby goat leg marinated with chimichurri and fresh rosemary, it's worth it. If you're worried about indulging too much, just make sure you have a glass of red from their extensive wine list - it's bound to unclog the arteries.
Saffron-coloured walls featuring a smattering of gorgeous Argentine pictures and big band records playing in the background complete the spectacular experience. Just don't tell your cardiologist.

Expensive Comedy
This was our first and last visit to Buenos Aires. This turned out to be a very expensive night out. One of us tried the signature dish of Patricia Oyster. $40.00 a half dozen although very nice they where a bit costly however there were no prices on the special board and guessing by the prices on the menu we thought that having the cobie steak would be a good choice. Wrong. At $70.00 a piece of scotch fillet the cow would have wanted to be more than massaged to make up for it. Lesson learned! Next time we wil ask for the pricing before you eat.

A disappointing comedy
If you are a follower of Norberto's other exploits in the restaurant world then I would steer clear of his latest, Buenos Aires. We were a group of 6 and arrived for our booking on time at 8.00pm. Initial service to take our drink order was slow however this picked up once the food order was taken. The entrees took a long time to arrive however when they did we didn't feel let down as both the oyster kilpatrick and chargrilled octopus were of a good standard. The group went with meat dishes for their mains with steak being Norberto's signature dishes. The wait for the mains to arrive was a little over an hour. When our meals finally arrived there was one short although we were assured that rather than it being forgotten, the Chef had insisted on cooking it again as he wasn't satisfied with the quality. That meal never arrived. Of the meals served both the pork and lamb were very poor cuts of meat and went back to the kitchen just about untouched. In watching the goings on in the kitchen it was clear that the focus was not on ensuring the delivery of quality food to the customers. We were grateful to the service staff for maintaining such professionalism which was not backed up by those in the kitchen. Fortunately the wine, Rockford Basket Press, did not disappoint and was the highlight of the evening. Despite the restaurant not being overly busy it is very noisy making conversation around the table difficult. On settling the bill we were overcharged for the meal that never arrived. All in all a disappointing experience, despite the comedy going on in the kitchen. Feedback was given on the night so all going well it will be taken on board.
