Bondi locals and visitors alike are no doubt familiar with the old Brown Sugar cafe on Brighton Boulevard. The Curlewis Street branch started out as the night-time version and with the demise of the original, Brown Sugar is now open during the day. It is friendly, good value and popular with young, trendy Bondi-ites who want good mod-Oz food without the price tag of some of Bondi's more posh venues.

One of our favourties
Hidden on a residential street near Bondi beach, this is a favourite with locals and my wife and I since we moved to the Eastern Suburbs last year. We've never had a bad meal here, the food is always fresh, the menu changing frequently and the staff are attentive without being too intrusive. The decor is relaxed and welcoming, whcih belies the relatively small space. We always find ourselves having 3 courses because the food, especially the meats, are so good and we can't pass up the cheese platter or desserts. To boot, it's BYO!!!

Wonderful find in Bondi
We went for dinner and had a fantastic time. The place was packed (and it was a Tuesday evening!) and it's easy to see why. We had the scallops (a special for the evening) which were delicious. The duck with black figs and hazelnut was lovely, but the outstanding part of the meal was the gorgonzola dolce served with warm bread, candied walnuts, pear and honeycomb - we shared it and it was more than we could fit in! Add the wonderful service and great vibe, it made a simple Tuesday night outing just outstanding!

Incredible fresh eggs
The meal was quite frankly fabulous. The eggs are apparently delivered fresh every day and you can taste it. I had an omelette which arrived perfect, not cooked to death or still raw (which is the norm in most cafes). My companion had the poached eggs, which were also fabulous. Thumbs up. I look forward to trying out dinner.

amazed
I had the pancakes, these guys put's Bills to shame. I also had 3 cups of coffee, I never have 3 cups. The very cute barista informed me that they serve the best coffee in Bondi and the brand is Di Lorenzo Caffe. I ended up buying some to take home.
