Located far away from the hustle and bustle of the trendy nosheries and bars of Bayswater Road, the unassuming Brown Rice boasts a menu of simple organic Japanese fare. Patrons huddling along the communal tables are an eclectic mix of Potts Point cognoscenti, casual drop-ins and lithe glowing bodies from the yoga studio next door.
The dishes here offer wholesome sustenance for body and mind, such as the organic egg omelette with eel, green onions and sesame; and warming tofu and vegetable hotpot, and provide a welcome respite from the chaotic hedonism of the Cross.

great food
Brown Rice delivers on both food and service, without attitude and all the flavor and goodness one could wish for in a meal. This isn't a fine dining experience, its more of an "order, eat, enjoy, and see you again" type of environment, however.. I had just come from another 'organic, japanese' type place in Surry Hills where I was rudely attended.. in comparison to that, I was pleasantly greeted and the staff were capable of meeting the demands of busy lunchtime orders. I am now a devotee.

Nice rice
Brown Rice is a great place to duck into for a quick bite to eat after work on on the weekend. Their food is all-organic and they arrive steaming hot on massive plates (great to share!)
You must try the salted soya beans. They are so fresh and yummy - a great start to the meal. The staff are friendly and gracious and I always enjoy dining there. Highly recommended.

Surprise find
Absolutely great. Simple wholesome delicious rustic style Japanese. Would eat there anytime, everbody loved it. Full of fresh flavour and the black sesame ice cream was a knockout.
