This Indian eatery does not have 'ordinary' in its vocabulary. Animal heads and zebra rugs cohabitate with delicate tea settings. One lucky table is showered with suspended lights that have exquisite upside-down teacups as shades, turning the concept of British tea on its head.
The parchment menu is a boutique version of the Kama Sutra-sized volumes often offered at other Indian eateries. The list is a concise recital of organic breads, small plates, British Indian dishes and traditional favourites.
If you appreciate bread as more than a curry mop, try the kulcha naan, which is plumped with pistachio nuts and dried cranberries. Steamed basmati and saffron rice are essential sides, as is a serve of kachumbar - a palate-cleansing salad of cucumber, tomato and coriander spiked with fresh lime.
Vegetable korma presents earthy offerings in a light cream and almond sauce. Chef Palam Preet Manes has many more vegetarian dishes up the sleeves of his chef's whites, should you wish to make further enquires.
The British India version of kedgeree features seared prawns and scallops on spicy rice, finished with sour cream and dill. Another British fave, fish and chips, is given an exotic spin with batter made with Kingfisher lager, cashew nuts, sesame seeds and tamarind mayonnaise. With such examples of post-colonial cheek, this is anything but a same-old Indian eatery.

Nice night out
Food was good, not a big selection, suggest looking at online menu before booking. Service was fast, we were in and out in 1 hour which suited us. Atmosphere was good, however a little dark, we had difficulty reading the menu, also a little noisey. Will return

Pleasant surprise
We had a coupon for a free second main dish and went to check it out with my wife. And we are glad we did. A beautiful place, the food was very good and service quick and friendly. Prices were reasonable, especially for an upmarket place like this in prime Adelaide location.
Only suggestion for improvement: the light was dimmed for atmosphere, we though it was a tad too dark- we couldn't see clearly what's on our plates :-)

Delightful surprise
2 friends and I dined at British India thgis week. The atmosphere was wonderful; the food was delicious - I had a very hot prawn dish not featured on the internet menu. It was superb. My friends had Tika chicken and Rogan Josh. Very conservative people. But we all commented on the intensity of the flavours. It was a delight.

Will revisit with friends
We had excellent and attentive service. Despite the glitzy interior, the feel was relaxed and from the noise of the other tables, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The vegetarian options were delicious and the bill came in a lot less than we had anticipated the evening to cost.

OK but wouldn't go back there
Lovely decor and elegant fine glassware.
Food good - well priced and flavoursome.
Service - We felt pushed into ordering more sides etc than we wanted.
We felt like we were in contempt if we were to ask for anything, like we were a hassle. We asked for a bottle of tap water twice and didn't get it and asked for the bill twice before eventually getting it. It felt like there was an under-current here with the staff like they are not happy and it conveyed to our not really feeling comfortable and relaxed and able to enjoy our meal.
